A life-sized statue of Link is offering a closer look at the protagonist’s strange arm inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Nintendo has shared very little information regarding the sequel toThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildup to this point. Fans have keyed into something being off about Link’s arm, though. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s new promotional statue confirms fans' theories that there’s more to the arm than expected.

In theE3 2021 trailer forThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, then still referred to as the sequel toBreath of the Wild, Link’s arm is shown to glow bright green during a cinematic. Gameplay from that trailer, and in the new title reveal trailer, didn’t provide much in terms of other information, however. Link swirled in green magic when using certain abilities, but his arm was kept suspiciously hidden. All that was clear was that Link’s arm had changed to a dark color and was wrapped in strange detail.

The new statue, whichNintendois showcasing as part of a Nintendo Live Event in Japan, shows the arm in all its glorious detail. Link is shown holding his glowing green arm with his palm open, his other arm planted at his other shoulder as if holding the green arm in place. The green arm, which looks like glass or crystal of some kind, is also wrapped in angular golden metallic lines.

While there’s no confirmed lore for the arm yet, it seems likely to be a lost technology from the 10,000-year-old ancient tribe fromThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The ancient tribe had highly advanced technology and built the game’s guardians and Divine Beasts, but was forced to disband by theKing of Hyrulewho feared them. Much of the technology inBreath of the Wild, including the shrines, teleportation, the Sheikah Slate, and more stems from the ancient tribe or is derivative from their works.

Link will presumably “earn” this arm inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdommuch like he finds theSheikah Slate inBreath of the Wild. The arm will then serve as the tool allowing Link to use various abilities and magics, or grant him access to new locales. That it also looks cool is just a bonus.

SinceThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s release dateis still over half of a year away, it may be some time before more information is shared regarding Link and his arm. It’s just a matter of time before the secrets of the arm and its green glow are revealed.
