Brewmaster Monk Best in Slot Stat Priority

The Best In Slot suggestions in this guide are based on whether the item has thetwo most important secondary statsfor the intended build. In the case of theBrewmaster Monks, there are two methods of prioritizing your stats:

Haste

Mastery

Being a Tank,Survivability is key.Versatility is the best statregardless of your playstyle for a flat damage reduction and damage increase.Critical Strikeis just behind Vers due toCelestial Fortune, and it also improves damage.Masteryis also important for increasing dodge chance throughMastery: Elusive Brawler. AndHasteis the least important stat except in the case that you would like to increase AoE DPS for faster energy regeneration and cooldown reduction onKeg Smash.

Important Notes For BiS Lists

It is important to note that any jump in ilvl by more than 10 points almost always results in the higher ilvl item being better. If you have an upgrade of 5 ilvl or less, compare the stats based on the stat priorities to decide the better item.

Keep in mind thatsecondary stats eventually have diminishing returns. The calculations for diminishing returns are as follows:

In the case where you have reached 30% in a secondary stat, an item that has a secondary stat that is lower on priority may be a better upgrade. This is why it is always important to sim your gear. For simplicity, we offer the best per slot assuming you have not capped out these stats.

The amount that is optimal always depends on the situation. you may alsouse a simulator, such as RaidBots,to see what you specifically should focus on. We have a section at the end of this guide tolearn how to sim your gear.

Brewmaster Monk BiS Gear

The items appearing in these lists may come fromMythic+, Raids, or The Vault. Their item level will depend on the instance’s level of difficulty (Normal, Heroic, Mythic, Mythic+ 1-20). This list does not include Renown or Crafting items as it is meant as a guide on what dungeons or raids to attend to get your best gear from these sources.

For easy comparison, the item tooltips showMythic level 9 or Normal Difficulty for Raiditem level version of the item.

Best Head

Unfortunately, the tier headpiece has the 2 least favorable secondary stats overall, so the next best stats are going to be the decider and there is one clear winner for both specs. If you were strictly looking for more damage, go with the second option, but it does sacrifice a lot of Versatility stat.

Vault of the Incarnates

Back to Item Menu

Best Neck

There are two good options for both builds here, providing a large amount of Versatility. The crafted necklace is also shaping up to be the best in slot neck for almost all classes, so make sure to have it crafted with the right stats for your spec.

Best Shoulders

The Tier shoulders aren’t bad for Survivability, but the Felbat Leather Pauldrons have better stat allocation, assuming you don’t break the tier set bonus.

Amice of the Enlightened

Best Back

In an ideal world we’d have Vers/Crit, but that’s not the case for Season 1 drops. Two decent options for Survivability.

Best Chest

Vault of the Incarnates has drops for perfect stat allocations for both builds. The Tier Chestpiece is very valuable to Survivability.

Best Wrist

No Versatility options here, looking at the next stats there are 2 clear runners-up for both specs.

Best Hands

The top pick has excellent stat allocation, the tier gloves are an okay pick for keeping the set bonus.

Best Waist

The first option is definitely the top pick with the high Versatility stat, another option is provided for Survivability if drops aren’t lucky.

Best Legs

Same story as the belts, the tier option has high versatility, and a second-best option is also provided.

Best Feet

There’s a repeating trend from the previous 2 slots, but it’s nice to see so much Versatility stats, eh?

Best Rings

Those very high stats on the ring from the Raid are very nice, it’s too bad the effect is effectively useless and will likely go to a Demon Hunter instead. The last option is a survivability runner-up if unlucky with drops.

Best Trinkets

Trinkets are a tough one and are likely very situational depending on the encounter, keep an eye out for these options.

All-Totem of the Master

Shield and AoE Damage Option

Best Weapons

Two One-Handers are going to provide more overall stats than a Two-Handed Weapon and there are 2 really great options in this item slot.

How To Simulate To Determine Your Best Gear

Raidbots is a tool that World of Warcraft players can use to figure out if the gear they just looted is an upgrade. As mentioned earlier, there are so many nuances and diminishing returns as certain points in the game, that determining an exact set of bis gear is impossible. With the ilvl scaling of Mythic+ loot on higher keys and utility different gear has for different fights, there just isn’t a pure “this is the absolute best for the entire Season” list. It’s even something that certain classes have come across inClassic Wrath!

Don’t worry, because we’re still here to help. Wehighlyrecommend usingraidbotsto determine if an item you just acquired is an upgrade. Here’s a quick guide to help you run simulations to see if your new item is an upgrade:
