Activision Blizzard just unveiled the upcomingWorld of Warcraftexpansion known asDragonflight, but each expansion has accumulated its own fan base over the years, which inspiredWoW Classic. One long-timeWorld of Warcraftfan has decided to do something creative with their old expansion boxes to celebrate the ever-evolving MMORPG.

SinceDragonflightwas confirmed by Activision Blizzard last week, many members of theWorld of Warcraftcommunity have expressed their enthusiasm for the upcoming changes in numerous ways. Reddit user Thatnerdyguy92 recently shared an image of some themed wall art that highlights each expansion, beginning with the originalWorld of Warcraftbox art leading to the expansion that changed several aspects of the original world,Cataclysm. Thatnerdyguy92’s display shows the early progress made by Blizzard to get to whereDragonflightis going when it eventually comes out.

The Burning Crusade,Wrath of the Lich King,Cataclysm, andClassicare all represented in Thatnerdyguy92’s wall art which combines the original boxes with their corresponding disc in a fitted black frame. In the case of the originalWorld of Warcraft box, theClassicwall art features the Orc disc out of the four included with the PC game. The box art of each expansion is centered in the frame, while the discs are featured on the bottom-left side of it, which leaves the majority of the box art unobstructed.

World of Warcraftwas initially released back in 2004 and the early version received many content updates and hotfixes leading to the launch of its first expansion,The Burning Crusade.Wrath of the Lich Kingexpanded on the original concepts introduced with the first two versions ofWorld of Warcraftwhen it was released in 2008, whileCataclysmchanged a large chunk of Azeroth in 2010. This is the conclusion of the expansions featured in Thatnerdyguy92’s wall art, but Blizzard went on to releasedMists of Pandaria,Warlords of Draenor,Legion,Battle For Azeroth, and, most recently,Shadowlands.

Although Thatnerdguy92 didn’t comment on why their framed expansions stop atCataclysm, it may have had to do with the drop-off of playersWorld of Warcraftexperienced with the expansion. Many players have also turned to purchasingWorld of Warcraftexpansions digitally as beyond getting thecollector’s editions, there are few perks to having a physical disc with most PCs built in recent years not even including disc drives. SeveralWorld of Warcraftfans have celebrated Thatnerdguy92’s idea of using their “dusty boxes” in creative art rather than keeping them on the shelf since they shared the idea with the community.

World of Warcraftis available now for Mac and PC.
