Summary

Mortal Kombat 1has enjoyed a pretty successful tenure so far, and its DLC fighters have certainly contributed to that success. At launch,Mortal Kombat 1had a sizable roster filled with both franchise staples and some relative unknowns, many of which were making their long-awaited return following their disappointing debut inMortal Kombat’s 3D era. It wasn’t a perfect roster, but it was a good start, and a great jumping off point for DLC.

A little while before launch,Mortal Kombat 1announced its first wave of DLC fighters, and was met with immediate fanfare. While it was good to have staples like Ermac and Quan Chi included in Kombat Pack 1, it was the wave’s guest characters that really sealed the deal for fans, withInvincible’s Omni-Man, DC’s Peacemaker, andThe Boys' Homelander all making the cut. But withMortal Kombat 1’s first Kombat Pack finally coming to an end soon, fans are preparing themselves for another wave of DLC fighters, and there’s one long-rumored character who might desperately need a spot on the roster.

Mortal Kombat 1’s Deathstroke Leak Needs to be True

All the way back in December 2023, renowned leaker Miller Ross (@mmmmmmmmiller) took to Twitter to tease some alleged upcoming playable characters forSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. According to Ross,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s post-launch contentwould see one new playable villain come to the game every season, each coming with their own unique form of traversal and melee attack. Though Ross first teased these villains with emojis, he eventually named each character he was aware of, including Mrs. Freeze, Killer Croc, an Elseworlds version of The Joker, and one of the most beloved DC villains of all time, Deathstroke.

Since that initial December 2023 leak, Miller Ross has continued to double down on his claims, now also alleging which season these villains will appear in. According to Ross, Mrs. Freeze is next on the line-up, and Deathstroke is one of the last, apparently set for a January 2025 launch inSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s fourth season. Though this hasn’t been confirmed by Rocksteady, and all rumors and leaks should always be taken with a pinch of salt, Miller Ross' reporting has been pretty accurate so far, but that might spell doom forSuicide Squad’s Deathstroke.

It’s no secret thatSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueisn’t doing so hot right now. After an abysmal launch,Suicide Squadwas pretty much dead in the water, but some fans had hopes that its first season of live-service content could turn things around and potentially prove that the base game’s shortcomings were worth it. However,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s first seasonwas met with heavy criticism, bringing very little new content to the game, and locking its new playable character behind a tedious grind. Right now, it’s unclear ifSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguewill be able to reach its second season let alone its fourth.

Mortal Kombat 1 Could be Deathstroke’s Saving Grace

But all hope might not be lost for a playable version of Deathstroke. All the way back in July 2023, long beforeMortal Kombat 1came out and before its first Kombat Pack was even revealed, a number of alleged DLC fighters were leaked, and Deathstroke made it onto the list. While there’s been no confirmation of Deathstroke as aDLC fighter forMortal Kombat 1, or even confirmation that more DLC fighters are coming, it would be great to see the beloved DC villain come toMortal Kombat 1, especially if he doesn’t get his chance in the spotlight inSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
