Players will run into quite a few side quests as they explore Hyrule during the Upheaval in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The chaos inflicting the lands has thrown some regions into turmoil and the princess herself is missing, sending Link on a new adventure to bring her home. Those that find themselves in the Hebra Mountains will also have the opportunity to bring Zelda’s golden horse home. By visiting a nearby stable, they can learn that the caretaker has lost possession of the majestic steed.

Players that want to keep Zelda’s horse safe (and complete the Zelda’s Golden Horse side quest) inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomcan use the following guide to find the mount and bring it back.

Starting The Zelda’s Golden Horse Side Quest In Tears Of The Kingdom

Before players can actually start the side quest to retrieve Zelda’s horse, they’ll first need to begin a Side Adventure. The first step is to make way to the office of theLucky Clover Gazette, which is found just before the main bridge to Rito Village (which has been broken). Inside the Lucky Clover Gazette, players will meet a tall Pelican-like NPC named Penn. This will begin aSide Adventure called Potential Princess Sightings!, and Penn will take off to visit the stables around Hyrule.

Once the Side Adventure is in motion, players can then head to Snowfield Stable (following the road quite a ways East from Lucky Clover Gazette). At the stable, players will spot Penn speaking to a young woman who informs the pair that Zelda’s special Golden Horse has gone missing to the North.

Finding And Obtaining Zelda’s Golden Horse In Tears Of The Kingdom

Once players have the side quest, they’ll want to head North of the stable and into the North Tabantha Snowfield. Players should be incredibly careful as, unfortunately, a massive Frost Gleeok patrols this area and can be seen flying through the sky above some nearby ruins. Zelda’s horse is all the way past this ferocious foe near a large piece of ruin at the top of the snowfield itself.Players can avoid the Gleeok by staying as far away as possible and going “around” to reach the area on the map.

Once players spot the Golden horse, they’ll need to sneak up on it. By crouching and using a Stealth Potion or Stealth Armor, players should be able to get close enough to mount the golden horse. Once on its back, players should quickly tap the L button to soothe the horse, and it can take a bit of stamina to stay on long enough to calm the beast down. It may be a good idea to take some energizing potions or stamina-based foods along just in case.

Once the horse has calmed down, players should head back to the Stable and speak to the NPC standing with Penn while on horseback. Players should be sure to avoid the Gleeok while on horseback by once again going around.

Players will receive the Royal Bridle and Saddle for completing the quest, along with an Energizing Potion and the ability to register Zelda’s horse at the stable. It’s easily one of the best horses in the game, with great stats and a very high bond from the start.
