Destiny 2’sVoid and Solar subclasses have been updated to 3.0 with positive reception from players in Season of the Risen and Season of the Haunted. The last of the Light’s subclasses, Arc, still carries on its previous iteration of branching skill trees and abilities. With Season 18 in late summer, many players expect Arc 3.0 to feature heavily, just as Solar and Void were center stages for the last two. The decision to overhaul the Light subclasses ofDestiny 2came about after the successful Darkness subclass, Stasis, was unveiled during the Beyond Light expansion.

As one of the manifestations of power from the Traveler’s Light, Arc is used as elemental damage related to electricity and electromagnetism. Each of the Guardian classes, like with Solar and Void, can use Arc power, though its Super Abilities are unique to each type as they vary on approach and play style. For example, Titan is able to use Arc to power their fists with lightning and decimate their enemies,Hunter can generate an Arc Staff, and Warlock can invoke Stormtrance to obliterate their foes. With Arc 3.0 presumably around the corner, there’s hope for several new features that empower the subclass into a devastating powerhouse it has the potential to be.

Conversion to Aspects and Fragments

The popularity of the Stasis subclass format created a template on which Void and Solar 3.0 were built, and it can be assumed that Arc 3.0 will follow suit with the inclusion of anAspects and Fragments system. Utilizing active and passive buffs for players, Aspects are functionally unique bonuses differentiated between each Guardian class, while Fragments are universal offensive and defensive perks shared by all three. The names and special features of the Arc Aspects can only be speculated on at this stage; however, if the same pattern holds, there will be three Aspects for each class, with only two capable of activation at any one point featuring several Fragment slots.

Fragments, being less potent than Aspects and focusing on more passive bonuses, can have multiple equipped and add another level of Guardian customization that the Arc subclass lacks. Fragments have differed between the separate Light subclasses, withSolar and Void receiving their own set, so Arc should receive its own unique Fragments to augment builds, attack strategies, and healing abilities. Whatever they may be, players should expect to see cosmic, devastating powers that will propel their Guardians into vessels that harness the power of lightning, storms, and other electromagnetic forces.

Bungie gave players a glimpse of the new Trials armor sets coming in Season 17.

Supers and Abilities

Solar and Void 3.0 updates brought balanced stats to their subclasses rather than brand-new attacks, and players can expect this same treatment for Arc 3.0. This means an increase in strength and skills would elevate Arc to where the other two subclasses are now, especially with the different Abilities that use Arc power such as Melee, Movement, and Grenades.Void and Solar 3.0 brought new Grenadesto its repertoire, and Arc 3.0 is assumed to do the same.

Currently, Arc is the least powerful and flexible of the three Light subclasses in terms of endgame content - consisting of more challengingRaids, Dungeons, and other PVP and PVE Challengesfor players to earn powerful Exotic gear. With new Arc graphics and weapons already prominent in The Witch Queen expansion, and with many of the abilities Savathun possesses now that she’s stolen the Light, it stands to reason that Arc 3.0’s fleshed out update will be jam-packed with potential to face off the attacks she leveled at players. With Arc being such a magnetic force, it would also be interesting to see another Super added, as the other two Light subclasses have more than one Super option per class.

Status Ailments

Status ailments such as slow, burning, poison, and frozen can be applied to players and enemies alike. If built up, they can cause lasting damage over time until the effect wears off. Arc, in its state now, does not have a genuinely unique ailment like burning for Solar, or slow is for Stasis.Considering Arc works off the Traveler’s powerby manipulating electricity and electromagnetic forces, seeing a shock status ailment of some type would be a wise introduction to Arc’s arsenal, mainly if utilized among Supers, Melee, and Grenades. Arc’s current lack of a predefined ailment contributes to it being seen as one of the weaker power subclasses, so any additional features can go a long way toward player satisfaction.

Bungie hasn’t released information about what Arc 3.0 will contain, but the updates to Void 3.0 and Solar 3.0 allow players to surmise what may be in store for the final Light subclass. With the inclusion of Aspects and Fragments, players could create a myriad of powerful and devastating Arc builds that call upon the electromagnetic forces around them to yield incredible attacks of electromagnetic phenomenon. If new Super, Melee, and Grenade abilities are further established, the possibilities will be endless, especially for endgame content where players take on challenging Dungeons and Raids. If Arc 3.0 introduces its own status ailment, it could level the playing field in enemy combat and even PVP fights where Guardians battle each other for dominance.
