Krome Studios has confirmed thatTy the Tasmanian Tiger 4will be making a grand return on the Nintendo Switch. Fans of the boomerang-throwing marsupial mascot have been treated well in recent years withremasters of earlierTygames, and soon they’ll be able to add the fourth mainline title to that list with a spruced-up re-release titledTy the Tasmanian Tiger 4: Bush Rescue Returns.
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 4stands out within the series for a few key reasons. Released in 2015, ten whole years afterTy 3, it ditched the 3D gameplay the series was known for in favor ofside-scrolling 2D gameplaymore akin to the Game Boy Advance versions of earlier games. What’s more, the original game was PC-exclusive, marking the first entry not to be released for consoles, but that will soon change with the upcoming remaster.

According to Krome’s announcement,Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 4: Bush Rescue Returnswill let players run, jump, and boomerang their way across 40 levels set throughout the series’ fantastical Australian Outback. In the process, they’ll be able to unlock 11 different types of boomerangs and collect over 20 unique skins for both Ty and his friends in the Bush Rescue team. There will be multiple modes to choose from as well, like Adventure, Time Attack, Turkey Chase, and Danger Arena.
Additionally,Bush Rescue Returnswill bring a number of new features to the base game, including English voiceovers, remastered cutscenes, a mix of remastered audio tracks and brand-new ones, and in-game text options for English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. These should ensure that both new and returning fans will have something fresh to look forward to, while helping to makeTy 4more accessible to more players than ever before.
For now, it looks likeBush Rescue Returnswill be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch as a digital-only title, but sincepreviousTyremasters eventually got multiplatform releases, it’s possibleTy 4may receive the same treatment. There’s no word yet on when the remaster will be released, but Krome did tease that fans will have a “chance to get involved” and added that it will share the details of what this means by the end of the year.
The announcement of theTy 4remaster comes at the perfect time, as this week marks the 20th anniversary of the originalTy the Tasmanian Tiger’s release. With older titles continuing to receive new updates, many fans are eager to see a proper new entry in the series. The franchise’s creator hasstated that aTy the Tasmanian Tiger 5is possible, though it would need a much larger budget than before. Whether that happens or not, it’s safe to say that howBush Rescue Returnsperforms should help Krome gauge the viability of going all out on a new game. Time will tell.
