When it comes toCall of DutyZombies, there are a few things that gamers likely think of right away.Wonder Weapons like the Ray Gunwill immediately jump out as memorable, as will maps like Der Riese and Kino Der Toten. Characters like Richtofen, Perks like Juggernog, and the Mystery Box are other defining features of the mode.
Another defining aspect ofCall of DutyZombies is its hidden songs, with these easter eggs usually unlocked in the same way. While players have had to interact with everything from teddy bears to bottles to get these tracks to play, nearly ever map has had an original, hidden song that plays after finding three items. Each song has done an excellent job of making gameplay more exciting while simultaneously matching the tone of the map it comes from, and a massive library of music has been built up over the years. In its next game, Treyarch should go out of its way to show love to Zombies’ soundtrack.

Making CoD Zombies’ Music More Accessible
Over the years, players have asked forZombies’ hidden musicto be replayable, as players are only able to listen to the hidden songs once per match. Given how fun it is to gun down Zombies while slaying the undead, this has always been a shame, but thankfullyCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warwas a step in the right direction. However, Treyarch could still take things a step further in its next game.
InCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies, players could listen to the music they collected through a music player in the pause menu. This was a great way to replay songs, as players could jam out to a number of tracks they had acquired via collectable cassette tapes. However, these music players were personal, meaning that gamers were unable to listen to Zombies’ hidden songs together via the music players.
Part of the fun ofCall of DutyZombies’ easter egg songs is that, once activated, everybody in the lobby hears the music at the same time. In turn, the music player is mainly useful for those that playCall of DutyZombies solo, with fans of co-op play needing to listen to their own music separately. The tracks not being in sync takes a lot of the fun away from the experience, so it would be great ifTreyarchcould add a shared music player alongside the next Zombies mode.
The host of the match could be given the option to let everyone in their lobby hear their in-game music player, allowingCall of DutyZombies fans to listen to the songs together. Players could replay tracks to their hearts’ content, picking and choosing whichever Zombies music they want to listen to. Longtime fans will surely remember the adrenaline rush that came from hearing Eminem’s “Won’t Back Down” as the Pack-A-Punch door fromFiveopened up and the horde rushed toward them, with the moment illustrating how much more fun music can make Zombies.
Further, not everyCall of DutyZombies soundtrack has been officially released, with songs fromCall of Duty: Black Ops 3andCall of Duty: Black Ops 4confined to their maps and YouTube uploads. As such, hopefully the next game from Treyarch includesCall of DutyZombies’ entire portfolio of songs in its music player alongside a feature that lets gamers listen to the tracks together. This would be a minor improvement on par with something likeadditional filters in Zombies, but it would be a big deal to those with a fondness for the mode’s hidden music.
