After releasing a new trailer forTop Gun: Maverick, Paramount Pictures has just dropped a new behind-the-scenes look that provides some insight into how the film was made and what drove movie star Tom Cruise to reprise his iconic role more than 30 years after the originalTop Gun.
This time around, the journey for Maverick to get to movie theaters has been quite long as theTop Gunsequel finished filming in the summer of 2019, with the film originally being scheduled for premiere in summer 2020, before the pandemic struck. Unlike some Hollywood blockbusters from other studios, Paramount never compromised on its desire to giveTop Gun: Maverickthe proper theatrical run it will get once it releases on May 27.

Among the topics addressed by Cruise in the nearly 3-minute video is his willingness to only come back forTop Gunonce there was a proper story to justify it, as well as more advanced technology to allow for more elaborate action scenes in the new Navy fighter jets. In it, Cruise also makes note of how close the producing team for the movie worked with the United States Navy in order to film the stunts inside the F-18s and the rigorous military training methods required to be able to fly alongside the real aviators.
It’s also worth noting the actors that play the pilot trainees that make up the rest of the cast also had to get used to flying high aboard these marvelous machines, and even adjusting their acting to the style of filming required for such scenes.Cruise’s vast acting experiencedefinitely gives him the upper hand on that front, but let-s not forget the actor is a certified pilot too, and although he was not cleared by the navy to fly an F-18, he does pilot an older P-51 and some helicopters in the movie.
