Though its release is still about a year and a half into the future, the anticipation for Marvel’sThunderboltsis growing. With the announcement of the team’s roster at last year’s D23, Marvel made it clear that this would be a group made of some of Marvel’s most memorable misfits. Now, yet another face has been added to the cast of the movie.
Deadline reports that Ayo Edibiri, star ofThe Bearand the buzzy Sundance hitTheater Camp, will be joiningThunderboltsin an undisclosed role. It remains to be seen if that role is supporting in nature, or if Edibiri will be playing a character with some significance to this and future Marvel projects.

Ayo Edibiri has appeared in a number of television projects, including providing the voice of Missy in Netflix’sBig Mouth. However, her most notable role may be onthe FX seriesThe Bear. There, Edibiri played Sydney, an aspiring young chef who must deal with the frustrations and stress of working in a professional kitchen, albeit one that needs a lot of work and isn’t exactly high-end. Edibiri also wrote for and acted inDickinson, which featuredrising Marvel star Hailee Steinfeldin the titular role of Emily Dickinson.
Thunderboltswill see the return of a number of Marvel characters, includingBlack Widow’s Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Olga Kurylenko reprising their roles as Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, and Taskmaster, respectively. Sebastian Stan will also return as Bucky Barnes, along withAnt-Man and the Wasp’s Hannah John Kamen as Ghost, andFalcon and the Winter Soldier’s Wyatt Russell as John Walker aka US Agent. Julia Louis-Dreyfus will also be returning as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who has turned out to be a significant driving force in the latest phase of Marvel films. Despite the movie’s title, it is not yet confirmed whetherHarrison Ford will appear as Thunderbolt Ross, as he will inCaptain America: New World Order.
No plot details have been revealed as of yet forThunderbolts, though online rumors have been circulating that say the team will find themselves facing off with the Sentry, Marvel’s morally compromised version of Superman. Those same rumors also indicate that Valentina will end up being the real villain of the movie (a move that Marvel has pulled before inCaptain America: The Winter Soldier). However, none of this has been substantiated by the always-secretive Marvel Studios. For now, fans can only speculate as to howThunderboltswill play out, and how it might affect future stories.
