Someone has made a mod forThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimthat takes inspiration directly from theHalogames. While the former is hugely successful in its own right, the latter is consideredone of the most innovative first-person shooters of all time, rubbing elbows with the likes ofGoldenEyeandHalf-Life. It’s perhaps not too surprising then that someone would come along and marry the science fiction elements of one series with the open-world epic role-playing qualities of Bethesda’s 2011 release.
Skyrimis even popular on the Steam Deck, despite the fact that the game is well over a decade old at this point. It’s hard to put a finger on precisely why it’s still dominating the gaming arena after all this time, but there are likely a combination of factors. It’s a pretty sizable world, for starters, containing a lengthy storyline and a plethora of side quests to boot. On top of that,TES5also seems to have transcended, becoming a part of popular culture in general, especially with the “arrow to the knee” quote becoming a meme early after release.

Of course, mods are also what’s probably keeping the game alive. As spotted by DSO Gaming, user Araanim has uploaded the “Spartan Program” mod forSkyrim. This fan-made add-on incorporates certain aspects from theHalofranchise, namely the armor and weapons used by the Spartan soldiers, with the former being based off the Mjolnir armor fromHalo. It should be said that this mod takes inspiration from the sci-fi series but doesn’t appear to contain any story elements from the game. One of the images does show that players will be able to wield the energy sword, one ofHalo’s most iconic weapons.
For fans of both games, this sounds like an intriguing way to bring the two together.Skyrimhas a ton of interesting mods that often blend franchises. For example, there’s one thatturns the Dragonborn into the Predator, with the ability to hunt down Xenomorphs. Not to mention there are plenty of modifications that simply add new content in general or tweak the gameplay for a more immersive experience.
Given its sheer popularity,Skyrimisone of the highest-grossing video games of the last decade. It’s stood the test of time, and while many would like Bethesda to give further information onThe Elder Scrolls 6, which was officially teased in 2018, the 2011 RPG still seems to have a lot of life left in it, especially if the modding community keeps putting out new projects.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
