The WitcherNetflix Series just wrapped up its first season, which has become an unprecedented success for the streaming platform. Its second season is tentatively planned for release in 2021, allowing Netflix to ramp up production for an even bigger and better story. Despite being about a year off, Netflix is already finalizing some ofThe Witcherseason two’s final details. Most recently, Netflix has confirmed the final list of directors who will be runningThe Witcherseason two’s individual episodes.

As previously announced, both Ed Bazalgette and Sarah O’Gorman will be directors involved withThe Witcherseason 2. Ed Bazalgette is best known for his work on the showsDoctor Whoand Netflix’sThe Last Kingdom. Sarah O’Gormon is largely known for UK-based TV shows, but is also working on the upcoming Netflix showCursed. A third director, Stephen Surjik, has been associated with the new season as well. Surjik is known for work on Netflix’sThe Umbrella Academy,Jessica Jones,Daredevil, andLost in Space.

According to Redanian Intelligence,The Witcher’s fourth director for season two has now been decided. It will be Emmy-nominated director Geeta Patel. Patel has a diverse range of experience. She’s perhaps best known for the documentary/comedy she made with her brother namedMeet the Patels. However, she’s also directed episodes for an impressive list of shows, includingFresh Off the Boat,The Mindy Project,Champions,Superstore,Chambers,Marvel’s Runaways, andThe Magicians.

The Witcher’s first seasonis just eight episodes long, which is assumed to be the length of season two, too. With four directors, it’s possible if not likely that each will be directing two episodes each. It’s also possible that one director may get three to another director’s one, like how Alik Sakharov directed three episodes in season one. But given how much more schedule-limited season two will be, the work seems more likely to be spread evenly.

Production for season 2 ofThe Witcherreportedly begins on February 17 and will last through August. That leaves a lot of room for post-production, to be sure. WithThe Witcher’s second seasonstill planned to release in 2021, perhaps Netflix just wants to make the most of the spring and summer weather for filming and then save the show to capitalize on a specific productive release window. Whatever Netflix’s reason, the wait is going to be unbearable for some fans.

The Witcheris available to watch now exclusively on Netflix.
