Summary
Honkai: Star Railbrings out what appears to be their very first battlesuit (a term used inHonkai Impact 3rd, another game byHoYoVerse) in the form of Imbibitor Lunae. Fans were excited to see close friend Dan Heng achieve new strength in this brand-new form. However, there is an overwhelming concern about how skill-point-heavy he is. Imbibitor Lunae’s skill can consume up to 3 skill points in a single turn, making players wonder how safe he is to play and if he’s free-to-play friendly.
Being skill-hungry is unfortunately just howHonkai: Star Rail’s Imbibitor Lunae is, there is no working around that. But there is working with it, as there are some solid supports he can use to be the only one using skills on the field. After all, it is worth more to give player skill points to his attacks than to a support. Despite the concerns, he is a manageable unit.

Honkai: Star Rail’s Imbibitor Lunae’s Kit
As a DPS character, all of Imbibitor Lunae’s tracesmatter. It’s hard to pick just one to focus on at first, but players are encouraged to prioritize their normal attack before they find a balance. His skill buffs his normal attack after all, much like Blade, and this is where most of his damage comes from. Some players level one trace up at a time, while others go in order one level at a time, but no matter how they do it, all that matters is that all of his traces get unlocked. Each node is supremely beneficial for him, as his outer nodes include 12% Crit rate for players to enjoy.
When it comes to knowinghow to build Imbibitor Lunae, the best relic set to give him is 4pc Wastelander of Banditry Desert. It buffs Imaginary damage with its 2pc and players have a chance to get an extra 10% Crit rate and 20% Crit DMG if they do their rotations right. Since Imbibitor Lunae is a damage dealer, he wants the typical DPS sub-stats: ATK, Crit rate, Crit DMG, and SPD all have their uses in his kits.
However, his main body piece should be a Crit DMG main. He has many opportunities to gain Crit rate and players can get plenty in his sub-stats that the Crit DMG might fall short if they don’t use a main stat Crit DMG body piece.Imbibitor Lunae’s light conesaren’t too complicated either. Since his kit is only complicated in terms of skill points and not in terms of build, he has the expected DPS options.
His best free-to-play option is On The Fall of an Aeon, buffing his ATK and DMG to enemies whose weaknesses have been broken. It’s easy to superimpose to max since it can be obtained fromHerta’s shop using Herta bonds.
Being so skill-hungry means that Imbibitor Lunae must be paired with those who don’t need to use their skills. As stated, it is more important for him to be the one using skills way more than it is for a support or other character to.Imbibitor Lunae’s team compsreflect this, putting him at the center of the composition. It might at first seem hard to get a free-to-play friendly team for him since some of his best teammates are five-stars like Luocha (since his healing doesn’t require skill points.) But this isn’t the case, it’s incredibly easy to support Imbibitor Lunae without having to be a collector of characters. Players should have no concerns about building him.
