Almost every class represents a specific fantasy archetype, and each one requires a unique strategy to master. Every single player has their favorite, and Blizzard tends to introduce a new one every couple of years. The sheer variety of options have helped giveWorld of Warcrafta ton of life and customizability, but there is still room for some improvement.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflightintroduced the game’s 13th class known as the Evoker, and the latest patch finally released theEvoker class' third specialization.The next expansion will likely not include another class, but the expansion after definitely should. While there are a ton of different options for the game’s 14th class, Blizzard needs to finally deliver on one missing fantasy archetype. After 19 years, it is finally time forWorld of Warcraftto introduce the classic Bard class.

World of Warcraft Needs a New Support Class
World of Warcrafthas all the classes someone might expect in a fantasy world, but it seems to be missing a support class like the Bard. There are a lot ofWorld of WarcraftDPS classesor classes for tanking damage, and the healers are still very combat focused. There really is not any class solely focused on supporting allies, and that seems like a strange omission.World of Warcraftis all about teaming up to take down dangerous foes, and it is about time it actually let players support each other.
World of Warcraftpatch 10.1.5 saw the introduction of the game’s first ever support-oriented specialization in the form ofthe Augmentation Evoker.This class uses the powers of the Black and Bronze dragons to support their allies across the battlefield. Their abilities can help defend allies, power up abilities, remove status effects, and deal some damage to their enemies. Players who choose this specialization will have to soar across the battlefield doing everything they can to protect their friends, and try not to die in the process.
The introduction of the Augmentation Evoker shows that Blizzard is interested increating support-oriented classes inWorld of Warcraft,and that makes the Bard a must-have. Bards are all about buffing their allies with the strum of an instrument, manipulating their foes, creating distractions, and ensuring that their allies stay healthy. They bring music and charm into the world and require an extremely specific set of skills to master. This has made them a fan favorite class throughout the fantasy genre, but they have been left out of theWorld of Warcraftfun.
World of Warcraft’s Bardcould operate a lot like classic Bards, but with an Azerothian spin. Players could utilize an assortment of instrumental abilities to buff their allies and become masters in illusion magic. Blizzard could introduce a new weapon type focused on instruments, or the attack animations could just include playing their instrument. They would need to include a few DPS abilities to be self-sufficient when necessary, but the primary focus would have to be on supporting allies.
World of Warcraftplayers have been requesting a Bard class for a little while now, and it feels like it would be a fantastic addition to the game.Bard-like charactersalready exist across Azeroth, and now it is time to finally give players control of them. While it will likely not happen for a little while, Bards need to be the next class Blizzard introduces.
