WhenThe Callisto Protocolrelease daterolls around later this year, players will be able to check it out across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles, but there will be some features exclusive to the PS5 version of the game. While these features aren’t anything too dramatic, they may still be what convinces survival-horror fans to pick up the PS5 version of the game over the other ones available.

It’s been confirmed thatThe Callisto Protocolwill be taking full advantage of the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller. Players will feel the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback kick when attackingThe Callisto Protocolmonsterswith protagonist Jacob’s stun baton, as detailed in a recent PlayStation Blog post. There will be other situations where players are able to “feel” what’s happening in the game through the DualSense, and it should go a long way in heightening the experience.
It’s long been believed thatthe DualSense controller could be great for horror games, and one of the first real tests of that will be whenThe Callisto Protocollaunches later this year. Besides taking advantage of the DualSense controller’s unique features,The Callisto Protocolwill also benefit from the console’s use of 3D audio. Overall, it sounds like the definitive way to experience the game will be on PS5, but it should be a solid experience regardless of one’s platform of choice.
Horror game fans have gotten a lot more looks atThe Callisto Protocolas of late. During the latest PlayStation State of Play, fans were treated to a new trailer setting up the game’s story and tone. And then at Summer Game Fest,rawCallisto Protocolgameplay footagewas shown off for the first time, showing that the game certainly has a lot in common withDead Space, but is perhaps taking things in an even more brutal, gorier direction.
