The modding community forSuper Smash Brother Ultimatehas created all sorts of wild content for the Nintendo Switch title. From adding anime characters toreal life streamers, there are a lot of different mods that allow for players to create their dream rosters. However, one modder has added the discontinued Pepsi mascot, Pepsi Man to the fighting game.
Pepsi Man was a mascot used by Pepsi in Japan during the 90s with his own theme song and PlayStation game helping him become incredibly popular inside and outside Japan. While there hasn’t been any recent official Pepsi Man content released, Dylan Zimmerman on YouTube has added the mascot toSuper Smash Brothers Ultimate.

This mod overwrites Captain Falcon and replaces his model with that of Pepsiman. During actual gameplay, Pepsiman’s icon and stock icons are replaced with cans of Pepsi in the game’s UI.
This mod is completely cosmetic with nothing gameplay-wise changing fromCaptain Falcon’s original move set. However, Pepsi Man’s alternate colors represent other soda brands such as Coca-Cola, Mountain Dew, Dr Pepper, A&W, Sprite, and Fanta.
Dylan Zimmerman has created many other mods for Super Smash Bros that add new characters to replace existing ones. These include mods that add Flowey the Flower fromUndertale,Shaggy Rodgers fromScooby Doo, and Shrek from the 2001 film of the same name.
Despite how long its been since Pepsi Man has appeared in anything official, the internet’s thirst for this mascot doesn’t seem like it’s ever going to be quenched. Pepsi Man has been modded into many games before such asLeft 4 Dead 2andGrand Theft Auto. He is additionally a semi-popular avatar for people to use when exploring the rooms of VR Chat.
The bigappeal of Pepsi Manis likely his large muscular stature and lack of any kind of human face. He doesn’t seem to wear any clothes except for the chain he wears around his neck. His Pepsi patterned appearance likely isn’t some kind of suit due to there being no bump on his face that implies a nose is underneath a mask of any kind. This bizarre existence is what likely draws people on the internet to him as well as his incredibly catchy theme.
It is unknown who else Dylan Zimmerman will add toSuper Smash Brother Ultimateor if he will mod the game’s music files to add Pepsi Man’s theme song, but the internet can only wait to see what’s next.
