Fortunately for players who were not familiar with the classic control scheme that hardcoreStreet Fighterplayers are accustomed to, Capcom has introduced anew modern control schemeallowing newcomers to play the game their own way, and it has managed to highlight the newly added mechanics to an even greater extent. Its accessibility options which appeal to players who are yet to delve into fighting games or are specifically new to theStreet Fighterfranchise are impressive to say the least, and it has most likely opened up the door to fellow titles in the fighting game genre to follow suit.
5Drive Gauge
Before delving into what the Drive System offers inStreet Fighter 6, it is important to realize that the Drive Gauge is incredibly important in each and every single battle. Players must find a balance between utilizing the tool to defend themselves whether through counters or parries, and ensuring that the Gauge is not completely depleted.
Maintaining a good meter through each round can be integral to victory, as it can often be the tool that can come clutch when players are bombarded with attacks from opponents, or they are stuck in corner pressure. Once players are able to become accustomed to the manner in how much certain abilities affect the Drive Gauge in its increase or depletion, it is an opener to great defense inStreet Fighter 6.

4Drive Abilities
Taking the aforementioned Gauge into consideration, the abilities players have in their arsenal within the Drive System are incredibly crucial. From perfectly parrying attacks, forcing opponents into a stun via Drive Impact, countering through Drive Reversals, and rushing at opponents with the Drive Rush, it has become a staple of the entire fighting experience and is now a vital fundamental for players to protect themselves and deal a great level of damage simultaneously.

Whether on the back foot or standing as the player at the advantage, each of these Drive abilities can very well turn the tide of each match. Many of these tools can leave opponents vulnerable todeadly combos and attacks, and practicing each of these will help players who are attempting to practice overcoming pressure.
3Throws/Grabs
As well as the Drive Gauge and its abilities are incredibly useful in every bout, throws are also a crucial part ofStreet Fighter 6too. Learning to tech throws by attempting a throw at the same time as the opponent can save players from a heap of trouble given the amount of damage that can be dealt, especially with characters suited toward a throwing play style such as Zangief or Manon.
Aside from regular throws, command grabs are attacks that players should be very careful of, as these cannot be teched oravoided throw standard blocksand only have the option to quickly move out of the way or jump out of danger. When using the Drive Parry or Drive Impact, throws become more important than ever, as players using any of these abilities can very easily be caught by a throw if their attempt to tech the throw is not timed correctly.

2Super Arts/Critical Arts
Given the fact that the Drive Parry and Reversals have allowed for greater damage in counters and the ability to pressure opponents,Super Arts and Critical Artshave become more vital than ever before. Performing any of these special attacks while opponents are static is a dangerous move, specifically because of the small-time frame they are given to quickly block or parry, leaving players open to a barrage of attacks themselves.
Performing these special attacks is best done when players are vulnerable after a Drive Reversal, Drive Parry, or once they are slammed against the wall of the stage, and keeping up the pressure during these openings will most certainly result in victory.

1Burnout State
Possibly the most important aspect out of all the new mechanics developers have added withinStreet Fighter 6, is the state of Burnout which derives from using too much of the Drive abilities or using a standard block without retaliating. Once in this state, Drive abilities are not able to be used whatsoever and players become incredibly vulnerable to opponents' attacks while waiting for their meter to replenish through the round.
Whilst it is still very much possible to win while in this state, it is imperative that playersmaintain a high level of aggression and pressureonce the opportunity presents itself, as succumbing to defense or running away from opponent attacks can quickly lead to defeat. This coincides with the mention of finding a balance between utilizing the Drive Gauge, whilst also using the base mechanics to have the upper hand in all areas of combat, ensuring it is not completely depleted.

Street Fighter 6is now available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
