With the second episode creeping around the corner, the series released two new character posters to build anticipation for what these two unique individuals may represent.
Even beforeStar Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, character posters have become a staple of the Disney Plus promotional rollout, providing audiences a glimpse of what to look forward to while equally spotlighting some significance in the selected characters themselves. Audiences have seen character posters throughoutThe Mandalorian’s two seasons and within every Marvel Studios series that has graced the streaming platform. The character posters usually don’t arrive until the character(s) make an actual appearance; otherwise, audiences would be gifted information before actually seeing it for themselves. The new posters forThe Book of Boba Fetthighlight two new characters to theStar Warsuniverse, the mayor’s Majordomo and Madam Garsa. They both made a brief but impressionable appearance in the last week’s episode.

Audiences first meet the mayor’s Majordomo when he comes to pay tribute to Boba Fett, the newly appointed power within Tatooine, but the encounter takes an uncomfortable turn when it surfaces that the Majordomo seeks tribute from Fett for the mayor instead. Fett and Shand expected to be visited by the mayor of the Tatooine city of Mos Espa just as others had come to pay their respects to the new power vessel, but the arrival of the Majordomo indicates a disregard forthe seat Boba Fett currently holds. When Fett and Shand deny the Majordomo’s request for the tribute, he exits, leaving a subtly concealed threat in his absence. It’s unclear at the moment what role the Majordomo will play, but his first impression will not put him on the good side of the two mercenaries.
The series then introduced audiences to Madam Garsa towards the latter end ofthe firstBoba Fettepisode, visited by Fett and Shand within her Sanctuary cantina. Fett visits the establishment to introduce himself, ensuring that her business will continue uninterrupted underneath his new regime. Madam Garsa returns the assurance, filling Fett’s helmet with his dues. Again, it’s unclear what role she will play upon Tatooine, but her first impression leaves a more satisfying taste in one’s mouth. Her personality characteristics showcase that she can easily offer assistance to Fett and Shand within their time of need, but she could also be a snake hidden with grass that attacks when they least expect it. It’s too early to tell right now, but her character points towards a more positive direction than the Majordomo.
The series will center around Fett and Shand as they attempt the fill the power void left after the death of Jabba The Hutt. The classic antagonists fromReturn of the Jedicontrolled the criminal underworld embedded within Tatooine, which Fett and Shand now seek to take control of in their unique way. It’s too early to make any assumptions about where the narrative will head, but the Majordomo and Madam Garsa seem to be significant pieces that will either help or hinderBoba Fett’s power-play within Tatooine. The end of last week’s episode concluded with assassins attempting to eliminate Fett and Shand, which makes one assume that the mayor’s Majordomo may have played a part because of the threat he delivered to them upon his exit. Time will tell if the revelation carries any truth, but until then, one can expect to see these characters more often throughout Boba Fett’s newest journey.
More character posters will appear as the series progresses, highlighting essential and critical pieces to the narrative foundation. Not much is clear, but two things are very apparent. First, the mayor’s Majordomo does not appear to be a character who can be trusted, while Madam Garsa carries some early optimism. As things unfold, the image will become much more transparent, but the posters delivered for now tell audiences thatthe story of Boba Fetthas only just begun.
