Launch day issues are a common occurrence for video games, and it is no different forStar Wars Jedi: Survivor, but PlayStation 5 owners now have an easy fix for one of the potential video issues they may face. The issue in question is not nearly as bad as issues some players are facing on other platforms, namely PC, which have been plaguingCal Kestis' latest journey. While the PS5 fix won’t address more serious issues players may face, it can at least ensure the gameplay experience is a little smoother for the duration of the story.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivorpicks up five years after the events ofStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, with players once again following the journey of Jedi and Order 66 survivor Cal Kestis. Since the first game, Kestis has been fighting to stay one step ahead of the Imperial forces still hunting for surviving Jedi scattered across the galaxy. The young Jedi is once again joined by former Jedi master Cere, the Nightsister Merrin, and cantankerous pilot Greez, along with several new allies as they seek safe haven in a galaxy becoming more and more dangerous for anyone calling themselves Jedi.

Heading into the game’s launch, several bugs and performance issues had been reported in the variousreviews forJedi: Survivormaking the rounds online. One of these issues on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S has been the broken HDR, which has been making the game’s visual experience significantly worse on the platforms. PS5 owners, however, have a workaround Reddit user Boriski_GMC shared on theStar Wars Jedisubreddit that requires going to adjust HDR in the settings and simply increasing the level on the third screen, or black point, by one level and keeping the first two screens the same.
The effectiveness of this simple fix was echoed by several users in the thread saying they were suffering from the same problem until doing what Boriski_GMC suggests. General feelings were the adjustment effectively fixes the HDR issue, which appears to have been especially bad on OLED and high-end LED TVs, and made the game near-unplayable for some users. A permanent solution from Respawn will likely come within the first few updates and hotfixes as the studio needs to address various other performance issues, as well, includingJedi: Survivordropping frames on PCand no audio at random points in the game.
A silver lining amid the various issues currently plaguing the game on its launch weekend is the game is proving to be a hit with critics and players online, despite attempts toreview bombStar Wars Jedi: Survivoron Steamand other storefronts. Respawn has also reassured players it is acting as quickly as possible to address these problems, especially on PC, so players can enjoy the grandStar Warsadventure the team has crafted.
