Ukrainian actress Ivanna Sakhno has just joined the show in a currently unknown role, though sources at Deadline claim she’ll be playing a brand new character. Alongside Dawson andNatasha Liu Bordizzo, who was recently cast as Sabine Wren, Sakhno looks to be playing a substantial part inAhsoka. Given the time frame of the series, which takes place shortly afterReturn of the Jedi, there are multiple possibilities for the new cast member, and she seems up to the task for any of them.
Sakhno is arguably best known for her role as Cadet Viktoria inPacific Rim: Uprising, though she also gained some notoriety playing Nadedja inThe Spy Who Dumped Me. Aside from those 2 rather beefy projects, she has also made an appearance in Hulu’sHigh Fidelityand is set to appear in the upcoming MGM International productionThe Reunion. She appears to be the first cast member forAhsokawho won’t be playing a returning character.
Star Wars: Ahsokahas tons of potential and possibilities, especially given exciting reveals like an appearance byHayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. While it’s unknown who Sakhno will play, the possibilities are functionally endless and endlessly intriguing. Maybe she’ll be an Imperial officer, or perhaps the leader of some local resistance. Whomever she ends up playing, there’s still a bit of a wait before fans get to see whatwriter Dave Filoni has in storefor characters both old and new. So why not giveRebelsanother watch?
