Summary
One Spider-Man actor voiced worries aboutSpider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is still in production. These concerns come after similar issues were raised about the last Spider-Verse entry.
TheSpider-Verseis a planned trilogy of animated films based on the ever-popular characterSpider-Man, one of the most prominent heroes in the Marvel Comics universe. More specifically, the trilogy centers on the Miles Morales version of the character, serving as an origin story and a chronicle of his adventures within the titular interconnected realities of the Spider-Verse. The first film,Into the Spider-Verse, was a successful undertaking thatalmost had cameos from Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and more. That success was replicated when the second film,Across the Spider-Verse,was released.

In addition to being a resounding success,Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Versealso set upBeyond the Spider-Verse. The majority of the now fan-favorite voice cast is set to return for the trilogy’s climax, and fan anticipation for the franchise to end on a high note is quite poignant. However, one star from the film franchise has expressed concerns about the upcoming conclusion to the trilogy. In an interview withThe Movie Dweeb, the voice of Pavitr Prabhakar (a.k.a. Spider-Man India), Karan Soni, made his doubts surrounding the film known. “And I’m a little bit like, ‘How are they gonna make the next one?’ I’m just like, ‘What else is there to do?'” the star said. “But, I feel worried for them. It’s like, you may only set the bar… Because, we’re so close to it being a perfect trilogy and now, I’m just like worried about what they’re gonna do, because I just feel anxiety for them of what is allowed to do.”
This isn’t Soni’s first brush with anxiety surrounding the franchise. The star admitted to being a big fan of the first film, a fact that he hid from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the co-writers and producers. As a result, he says he had similar anxiety surrounding the second installment. “And I was just like, ‘There’s no way this is gonna be as good as the first one.’ In my head, I’m like, ‘Let’s just be realistic: what are you gonna do that’s gonna make this better?'” This fear was unfounded, as the second film was a hit, with many people espousing the merits ofSpider-Man: Into the Spider-VerseandAcross the Spider-Verseand arguing which is better.
If history is anything to go by, Soni, whose character played a big part in one ofSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s most pivotal scenes, will similarly have nothing to worry about withBeyond the Spider-Verse. After watching the complete work, he revealed it was “shocking” to be part of a film that’s so good it’s being viewed by people multiple times.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versehas been removed from the studio release schedule due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
