The newestDemon’s Soulsgameplay trailer is impressive for a lot of reasons. Thegraphics are absolutely amazing, the sound design seems to pull the viewer into the experience, and the gameplay looks crisp and clean. Yet, despite all of this, fans are attracted to one minor detail they’ve noticed throughout the trailer. A broken bench.
MostSoulsfans know ofDemon’s Souls, but a great number of them have never played it. This game started the entire franchise, even ifDark Soulspopularized it, and Bluepoint Games is giving it the remake treatment for the PS5. It seems it has gone above and beyond yet again with this remake attempt.

In days past, graphics, gameplay, and story were the benchmarks by which a game was measured, but now fans are beginning to appreciate attention to detail. They want to seesand drain from a sand bag inThe Last of Us 2after being shot, and they’ve found a similar interaction inDemon’s Souls.
Towards the end of the gameplay trailer, there’s a scene where the character backstabs an enemy, kicking them off their sword in classic fashion. The part that has wowed fans is the aftermath of the interaction, as the enemy flies into a bench, breaking off a chunk of it. Inany otherSoulsgame, or most games in general, either the entire bench would have shattered into pieces or the enemy would simply have clipped right through. Instead, just the corner where the enemy hit the bench broke off, indicating an impressive level of detail and destructibility.
Fans are hopeful that this sort of physics will persist throughout the entire game and not be relegated to a single instance or cutscenes. Gaming worlds with more interactable objects have become more and more common, but they are rarely this accurate or detailed. It’s clear from this one small clip that Bluepoint Games is putting a lot of care and effort into making theDemon’s SoulsRemakethe best that it can possibly be, andusing the PS5 to its fullest potential.
Demon’s Soulswill be a launch title for the PS5 on November 12th, meaning there’s officially less than two weeks until its arrival and the start of the next generation of gaming. Fans are understandably excited, and if this level of detail persists throughout the entire game, it should be a truly cinematic experience from start to finish.
