After more than a decade, it’s still possible to come across something inSkryimthat the average player wouldn’t expect to see, such as this one fan who ran into an unnecessary amount of Imperial soldiers. As one ofBethesda’s highest-selling games, not to mention being one of the most influential fantasy RPGs in recent memory,The Elder Scrolls 5is an absolute triumph of gaming. Sure, it has a lot of flaws, but it still maintains its popularity even to this day.

While there aren’t many people who would describe the fantasy release as being a horror game,Skyrimdoes have some creepy moments, whether it’s the Aretino Residence in Windhelm or wandering around the eerily beautiful Blackreach. However, there are some things that can occur while the Dragonborn is out for a stroll which can induce an unsettling feeling for a very different reason.

In a recent post on Reddit, user andSkyrimplayer Neftun had a rather unfortunate run-in with probably the last thing a member of the Stormcloaks would want to encounter. The brief clip shows the player having a pleasant jog across the snowy plains of the province when all of a sudden, a pack of Imperial soldiers approaches unannounced. As the crowd gets closer, it becomes apparent to the player that there are way more of these soldiers than is standard, with each of these natives of Cyrodiil attempting to say one of their many lines of dialog, which results in a cacophony of sound as Neftun is left baffled, though unharmed.

For anyone who hasn’t played the epic 2011 RPG,Skyrim’s Stromcloaks and Imperialsare at loggerheads with each other. It’s this civil war between the two factions that forms the major parts of the main storyline. What this Reddit user encountered was certainly out of the ordinary, with no explanation as to why there were so many soldiers approaching at once, though user leehelck did suggest it could have been console commands.

In any case, it’s just one more example of howSkyrimremains in the public eye as fans demonstrate all the weird things that can occur in the game. There’s no tellingwhetherThe Elder Scrolls 6will enjoy such longevity, but this fifth installment continues to be a source of entertainment for many players. Given this, the next installment in Bethesda’s long-running franchise certainly has its work cut out for it if it hopes to leave as much of an impact on the gaming world.

Skyrimis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
