ASkyrimplayer has noticed an extremely cool reference toMorrowindafter over 1400 hours of playtime.Skyrimhas many different references to past gamesin the series, but this one takes a more subtle approach, only recognizable by those who played the older game.

Despite now being well over 11 years old, there is no end to the new discoveries in the game. Just recently, a player noticed somehidden Bleak Falls Barrow treasure inSkyrim, which could go unnoticed by even the most experienced of players.Skyrimoffers many different random encounters for players to stumble upon, but many of these are intended to be much rarer to encounter than others. While theSkyrimcommunity has broken the game up through modding, it’s still interesting to see how things slip the net and go unfound.

The discovery was posted by Redditor GISHMAN_THE_FISHMAN, as a wizard casts aspell inSkyrimwhich launches them far into the air. They then come crashing back down to the ground, dying instantly. It’s a great reference toMorrowind, where an almost-exact situation can happen. According to players in the thread, players are able to cast a paralysis spell on the wizard, saving their life. They don’t have much to say about it though, simply repeating “I don’t want to talk about it” over and over again.

Morrowindremains a huge fan-favorite within theElder Scrollscommunity, although there is certainly an argument that the game very much shows its age now. However, that hasn’t stopped players from calling for an official remake from Bethesda, although that seems unlikely at this point. There are alternatives, though, withMorrowindfan remakeSkywindbringing the old RPG toSkyrim’s newer game engine. It’s unclear at this point when or whether it will actually release, but it offers a glimpse of hope for those who prefer Bethesda’s older work.

Even if players won’t officially be returning to the land of Morrowind any time soon, it hopefully won’t be long until players finally discover where exactly in TamrielThe Elder Scrolls 6will be headed. WithStarfieldslated to finally release later this year, Bethesda is expected to ramp up the development ofSkyrim’s sequel. Given the game was initially announced way back in 2018, fans of the franchise have been more than patient so far, and hopefully it’s rewarded with a brilliant new RPG in the years to come.
