Summary
Fans have been anticipating what monster could beadded toDead by Daylight’scabinet of creatures next, with rumors and theoriesmostly pointing toFive Nights at Freddy’sandStranger Things’second chapter, or maybe that was just wishful thinking. While these licenses have every possibility of happening in the future, this next chapter has already been teased.
Wizard’s of the Coast hit TTRPG will be joining the fog next, with the likelihood being that the Undying Lich King Vecna will be next, considering what was shown and heard in the trailer, and the new Vecna campaign dropping in late May. But with one legendaryD&Dboss all but confirmed, there is the chance for a second chapter down the road, with manyD&Dmonsters and bosses fully capable of instilling terror intoDead by Daylight.

6Changeling
Trick Survivors by Turning into One of Them
Changelings are aninteresting race inD&D,as they can shapeshift at will to another individual they have seen, which allows them to escape from enemies or infiltrate a rival’s base. Many thought that the Legion was going to act as something akin to a shape changer, assuming the role of a Survivor to trick unsuspecting Survivors.
This, however, turned out not to be true, despite many fans wishing for it. A changeling killer could make this wish a reality, having a Killer that could transform into a Survivor that they have previously damaged or hooked. Though ‘SWF’s playing via comms might render this power weak, it would certainly make for a more unique playstyle capable of terrifying those survivors who had no idea that Dwight they were running alongside was the killer all along.

5Mind Flayer
These Cunning Creatures Could Give the Smartest Survivors a Run for their Blood
Mind Flayers are one of the most iconicD&Dmonsters, and their legendary status has only increased following the release ofBaldur’s Gate 3. These creatures exist mostly in the Underdark, feasting on the brains of any living creature unfortunate enough to fall into their grasp.
As these creatures have already been featured in games, why not in one more? Their almost alien-like appearance would make that a threat even to those who have never seen them before, and D&D players would know as soon as they catch a glimpse of it, they need to hightail it away. Also, they have the chance to create a truly memorable mori with these creatures, as they finally successfully capture their quarry, and devour the brain right out of their skulls.

4Mimic
Unaware Survivors Could So Easily Fall Prey
D&Dplayers live in fearof mimics, as they can be anything, or anywhere, even a whole dungeon, if the DM is feeling particularly vindictive. They mostly masquerade as chests, as what self-respecting D&D player can resist the chance to loot themselves some goodies, such as gold or new and better adventuring equipment? Most players know to check for traps, but they should also check to see if it has rows of sharp teeth and a long tongue they can use to capture their prey.
As there are many things Survivors can interact with in the trials, such as pallets, lockers, totems, and chests, and Survivors needing to interact with generators, a Mimic killer is definitely feasible, as they could disguise themselves as one of these props, and then ensnare the hapless Survivor who decides to interact with it. This adds a new type of gameplay to the game, which would certainly be refreshing to long-time fans who are awaiting new gameplay modes.

3Gibbering Mouther
This Amorphous Mass of Mouths is a Nightmare Fuel
The Gibbering Mouther may be one of the most underratedD&Dmonsters. Though it’s CR is low compared to most other terrifying monsters, it still remains as one of the most scariest-looking creatures, as it is an amorphous mass populated by far too many eyes and mouths barely held by the ooze it consists of.
Though translating this creature into the game successfully, as animating such a creature would be a technological nightmare, if they managed to pull it off it may just go down in history as the mosthorrifyingDbDkiller of all time. Veterans players who have found that the fear factor ofDbDfaded a long time ago would find this just as scary as new players who are still grappling with the horror of this game.

2Strahd Von Zarovich
Dead by Daylightplayers have long been awaiting a vampire killer to infiltrate the fog, as there is the opportunity to create a new mechanic revolving around blood. With no confirmed vampire killer anywhere on the horizon, the position is still up for grabs, and who better to fill it thanDungeons and Dragons’ownfavored vampirelord, Strahd Von Zarovich?
Strahd comes straight from one of the best and most horrifying campaigns inD&Dhistory, Curse of Strahd, which verges right into gothic horror and has its own menagerie of horrors, making him perfectly qualified as a Killer. Whether fans will see him exchange the fog of Barovia for the fog ofDbDis another matter entirely, he is certainly worthy of a spot, even amid the other horror icons that have managed to make it onto the roster so far.

1Beholders
With Its Multiple Eye Stalks, Beholders Could be the Most Versatile Killer
The Beholder was the monster shown in the teaser forDead by Daylight’snext collaboration, lashing out against the dungeon bars that barely keep it contained. Though fleeting, this demonstrated that Beholder’s have the full capability of being terrifying monsters Survivors would dread to face off against in the fog.
Not only that butin the tabletop game, Beholder’s numerous eye stalks each have a different effect when used against players, which could very well be translated toDbD. The eye stalks could inflict negative status effects against Survivors such as incapacitated, oblivious, mangled, as well as standard damage. While this would raise some concerns regarding balance, there is no denying it would be fun and play into the Beholder’s skillset inDungeons and Dragons.
