This is just one reason why any leak about newRainbow Six: Siegecontent tends to be scrutinized like crazy. A previous leak hinted that thenextSiegeOperator might be direct fromSplinter Cell, and it looks like that might be true. A recent leak of some admittedly shaky footage from Redditor Zer0Bytes shows off the new Operators and their loadouts. The new offense Operator is code-named Scout, though whether or not that is their final name is unknown at the time. The new defense Operator shown in the clip may be from a later Season than Scout, and is named Aruni. Gameplay of both is shown in Zer0Bytes' footage.

The idea of Scout being directly from theSplinter Cellseries is not implausible by any means. After all, bothSplinter CellandRainbow Sixfall under the umbrella of games adapted from Tom Clancy’s work. That said, his current in-game look seems distinct fromSlinter Cellprotagonist Sam Fisher. With that in mind, it’s likely that thetheory of the new Siege Operator being Sam Fisherhimself is off the table.
Compared to the previousoffensive Operator Ace, Scout is much less a one-man army and much more a, well, scout. While Ace has a hard-breaching gadget, Scout’s is described as a “Secondary Hard Breach” (the name is probably a work in progress). It has so far only been seen carving a circle in wood, designed to create a hole rather than a wide opening. Combined with Scout’s Assault Rifle, this could make for serious carnage if placed correctly. These holes could also be inconspicuous enough to fire Scout’s drill cameras through, for discreet reconnaissance.
On the flip side, the new defender Aruni seems to be more active thanSteel Wave’s defensive Operator Melusi. While Melusi’s Banshee device is bulletproof and can slow in a wide area, Aruni’s very visible laser grid closes off exactly one doorway. Also impressive is Aruni’s prosthetic arm, which can punch a quick murder hole in a wall for unexpected firing angles. How many uses she has of that arm is unknown. How will these two affect the meta? Only time will tell.
Rainbow Six: Siegeis currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
