A popular meme of Hamillholding a lightsaberpointing directly at his face as late actor Alec Guinness watches on has been shared multiple times since it first became viral. The text overlay reads: “Handed the most dangerous weapon in the Galaxy. Immediately point at face.” When one fan recently shared it again on Twitter, Hamill responded and confessed that the meme still makes him “cringe” every time he sees it.

The image, which was taken on the set ofStar Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, is more than 40 years old, but it is still popular among fans of the franchise and continues to provide laughs. While the scene is not from the actual film, Hamill has fun with it and points out how Obi-Wan Kenobi looks “so remarkably unconcerned.” His Twitter followers added to the fun by sharingmore Star Wars memes, with some going the extra mile and editing the image to show the blue blade accidentally impaling Hamill’s eye.
This isn’t the first time that Hamill has had a laugh over this particular meme. Back in 2019, the actor had posted the same meme on his Twitter account, comically asking his fans if it was indeed a scene from the film or just a production shot.
