With the DLC launch windows forPokemon Scarlet and Violetrapidly approaching, a recent leak has come out suggesting that one of the characters featured in The Indigo Disk DLC will play an important role in the franchise’s next entry. It is unusual but not unheard of for the series to feature a returning character between games, but many players expected the story ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetto be wrapped up with the release of the DLC. However, this rumor could hold some water if the character in question appears in a time-traveling title similar toPokemon Legends: Arceus.

ThisPokemonDLC leak comes from Riddler Khu, one of the most notorious and reliable leakers in thePokemoncommunity, but until details about the next entry in the series are confirmed, fans should still take this information with a grain of salt. Riddler Khu not only suggests that one of these DLC characters will play an important role in the next game, but implies that the game will either be a remake or aLegend: Arceus-style game. While fans can only speculate as to what in store for the series afterPokemon Scarlet and Violet, the success of and precedent set byPokemon Legends: Arceuscould point to another game the style is on the horizon.

The Pokemon DLC Leak Makes a Lot of Sense in the Context of Another Pokemon Legends Game

There are several instances of characters making a return appearance inPokemongames after their initial debut, such as Grimsley fromPokemon Black and Whiteappearing inPokemon Sun and Moon, or Looker making several appearances afterPokemon Platinum. However, with the exception of Looker, most of these appearances are simple cameos and not tied to the greater plot of the game. Riddler Khu implies that this character from thePokemon Scarlet and VioletDLCwill play a much larger role in the plot of a future title, suggesting it won’t just be a one-off cameo.

The game with arguably the biggest plot relevant cameo in the series isPokemon Legends: Arceuswith the appearance ofPokemon Black and White’s Ingo. WhilePokemon Legends: Arceusfeatures many characters who bear a striking resemblance to previously established characters in the franchise, these individuals are intended to be ancestors to others in the series given thatLegends: Arceustakes place far in the past. However, Ingo is the exception because he’s the exact same character fromPokemon Black and White, having been transported to the past seemingly by the same force that transported the player.

Ingo acts a sort of the missing link to explain why the player was transported to the past, putting him in a pivotal role in the game’s overarching lore beyond just being a warden for the Pearl Clan. If Riddler Khu’s leak is to be believed, it sounds as if the character in question will play a similar role in the upcomingPokemontitle and many fans are speculating that this entry could be a newPokemon Legendsgame set in Unova’s past. AfterPokemon Legends: Arceustook players to Gen 4’s past, it would make sense that a sequel would follow for Gen 5.

While Riddler Khu has accurately provided details about past titles likePokemon Legends: ArceusandPokemon Scarlet and Violet, this latest leak doesn’t confirm anything and its cryptic nature leaves plenty of room for speculation. However, there are a lot of signs pointing towards anotherPokemon Legendsgame coming in the future, and these rumors seem to be supported by Riddler Khu’s leak. UntilPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers get their hands on the DLC and get a better feel for its plot and characters, it will be hard to speculate further on the next entry in the series.
