Mass outbreaks have been one of the oldest mechanics in the Pokemon franchise, debuting all the way back inPokemon Gold and Silvergames. Over the years, the feature has been significantly refined, and while it was missing in some iterations in between, it made a return withPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.Pokemon Scarlet and Violethave two kinds of mass outbreaks, one which occurs randomly across the world, and the other which is part of a special event. The last mass outbreak event was held as part of the New Year celebrations in the games. Now, fans will be getting yet another chance to catch a few rare Pokemon in the upcoming event.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violetwill be getting a new mass outbreak event featuring Gulpin, Stunky, Skrelp, and Clauncher. The event will kick off on Friday, January 26, and will conclude on Jun 23, 2025. The mass outbreak event will be taking place in the Paldea region, and playersof either of the two versions will be getting a chance to catch theseversion-exclusive Pokemon.
Pokemon Scarlet And Violet January 2024 Mass Outbreak Event
While Clauncher and Gulpin are usually exclusive toScarlet, and Stunky and Skrelp are exclusive toViolet, this gives players a really good opportunity tocomplete theirPokemon Scarlet and VioletPokedex. However, there is a catch. The Uncommon Mark will only be available for Pokemon in the version to which they are exclusive, while the Rare Mark can be found on Pokemon from the other version. Marks are only cosmetic in nature and do not have any effect on the Pokemon or its move set whatsoever.
In order to access thePokemon Scarlet and Violetmass outbreak event, an internet connection is required, although a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is not necessary. Additionally, since this event will be taking place in Paldea, players do not need to own the expansions to take part in it. To participate, players can simply head to the Poke Portal and then check the latest Poke Portal News from the Mystery Gift section.
