Summary
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers in Japan can get a random set of Paradox Pokemon in a special distribution event. However, this one will only be exclusive to the country as it will be done via a local manga magazine. This promo continues the momentum thatPokemon Scarlet and Violethas after releasing its newThe Indigo DiskDLC.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetintroduced the Paradox Pokemon, mysterious Pokemon that are unlike anything the series has seen so far. The best description for them would be ancient and futuristic versions of already-existing Pokemon from previous games, and the subset a player gets depends on which game they’re playing (Scarletplayers get ancient Pokemon, whileVioletplayers get the futuristic ones). They also don’t have “traditional” Pokemon names, as the Paradox versions of Generation 2 legendaries Suicune, Entei, and Raikou are respectively named Walking Wake, Gouging Fire, and Raging Bolt.

Serebii.net reportedthatPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill be distributing Paradox Pokemon codes via Japanese manga magazineCoroCoroon July 08, 2025. The three pairs to be given away are Flutter Mane and Iron Jugulis, Scream Tail and Iron Hands, and Brute Bonnet and Iron Thorns. Each code will give one of the pairs at random (seemingly regardless of game version) when entered through the game’s Mystery Gift feature, so players who want all three pairs will likely have to find as many of the codes as they can, while those who don’t live in Japan would need to find a way to get a copy of the issue.
Paradox Pokemon are naturally encountered in Area Zerowhile playingPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s main story, and then the more common ones become available in larger numbers after the main campaign is completed. Flutter Mane, Scream Tail, and Brute Bonnet are ancient versions of Misdreavus, Jigglypuff, and Amoonguss, respectively, while Iron Jugulis, Iron Hands, and Iron Thorns are futuristic incarnations of Hydreigon, Hariyama, and Tyranitar. Paradox Pokemon are valuable for their high base stats, with the lowest end having a max total of 570 and the games' mascot legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon topping out at a total of 670.

AsPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s latest DLCThe Indigo Diskadded new Paradox Pokemonto Paldea, there are likely more to come should developer Game Freak make additional expansion content. Other than constant additions to the postgame story, releasing regular updates to the Paradox population could be a good way to keep the game alive until the next bigPokemonrelease.
While various alternate versions of existing Pokemon have been around for a few generations now, the concept of Paradox variants seems to be a big hit with many players. SincePokemon Scarlet and Violet’s launch, the fanbase has produced a lot of fan art depicting Paradox forms of Pokemon that haven’t gotten the treatment yet. However, if there’s something fans feel the developers could improve, it’s theexecution of theVioletParadox Pokemon, which all currently follow a metallic and robotic theme. TheScarletones seem to be more diverse and dynamic, which may lead to players favoring that version over the other.
