Clefable is the latestPokemonto get a Paradox-form reimagining from a fan-artist. Paradox forms, as introduced inPokemon ScarletandPokemon Violet, have opened up a vein ofPokemoncreativity within the game franchise’s community.Pokemonfans clearly love seeing what their favorite Pokemon might look like if they were from the far future or ancient past. Clefable’s new fan-design is just one example of the inspired art fans have made.
Paradox forms, for those unfamiliar, are exclusive to bothPokemon ScarletandViolet. In the two latestmain-seriesPokemongames, time travel takes on a major role in the story. This has allowed Pokemon from both the future and past to travel into the game’s world, where they can be collected and trained like any other Pokemon. However, there are only 16 Paradox-form Pokemon initially available, 8 inPokemon Scarletand 8 inPokemon Violet, so fans are creating more on their own.

As posted on thePokemonsubreddit, artist HertzBurst has made anew Paradox formfor the Pokemon Clefable. Their original design is named the Iron Astronaut and, like many future-inspired Paradox-form Pokemon, the Clefable has been fully transformed into a robot. Its body is in the shape of a capsule, reminiscent of anAmong Uscrewmate. Their face is now a pixelated computer monitor, they have a panel of glowing buttons on their front, and their ears and wings have become glowing bright pink appendages.
HertzBurst went the extra mile and also created a custom Pokedex profile for the Iron Astronaut, providing some extra information about their custom Clefable. AClefable is typically Fairy-type, but the Iron Astronaut becomes a Fairy/Flying-type Pokemon. As for why it’s Flying and not Steel, like its name would imply, the Iron Astronaut is said to resemble a “space exploration device.” The nickname for the Iron Astronaut, curiously, is the Paradox Pokemon.
This isn’t the firstParadox-form Pokemonthat HertzBurst has created. They’ve made a number of previous Paradox form concepts. They’ve made Paradox forms of Sudowoodo, Qwilfish, Lotad, Magikarp, Skorupi, and many more. They’re all future-inspired Paradox forms and HertzBurst says they make them in Blender.
Paradox-form Pokemon may be a rarity at the moment, but Game Freak is already working on new ones. They’ll be released in futurePokemon ScarletandVioletcontent. Given their popularity, Game Freak may even continue to add Paradox forms infuturePokemongame releases, too. The studio certainly has a lot of fanart if it needs inspiration.
Pokemon ScarletandVioletare available now on Nintendo Switch.
