Ever since thePokemonfranchise was launched 25 years ago, its fans have done their best to recreate the officialPokemondesigns in new ways. These have taken the shape of design combinations called fusions, full redesigns of the originals, and even fan art that crosses into other franchises. In the latest show of player creativity, onePokemonfan brought Charmander into the world ofHarry Potter.

TheHarry Potteruniverse began with the publishing ofHarry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stonein the United Kingdom in 1997. This and six other fantasy novels in the series established a world full of wizardry. The Pokemon featured in this artwork, Charmander, is the Fire-type starter forthe first generation ofPokemon.

This wonderful mix of worlds casts Charmander as Harry Potter, the titular character of the fantasy series, and is the creation of u/LanaDiPati. This Pokemon now sports a striped scarf, a wand, glasses, and a scar. The scarf looks just like those worn by students in the Gryffindor house at Hogwarts, while the other items narrow the design directly to Harry Potter’s physical appearance. The basic shape of the Pokemon is the same, but it has just enough items to perfectly convey its newly found wizarding prowess. U/LanaDiPati has even given this little Pokemon a new name and the title of their own novel:Charry Mander and the Pokeball of Fire.

This artwork perfectly combines two beloved worlds through one of the original Pokemon. First and foremost, u/LanaDiPati’s title is a great reference to the fourth novel in the series,Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. On top of this, Charry Mander hasHarry Potter’s exact scaron its forehead, making the image easily identifiable to anyone familiar with either series.

While theHarry Potterfranchise andPokemondon’t have much in common, that is what makes this fan creation interesting. The Gryffindor scarf and the glasses do a great job tying together these worlds, and the resulting mix of magic andPokemon battleswould make for a wild series.

Perhaps the power in both series would cancel one another out, though. With Pokemon like Arceus, Dialga, and Palkia roaming around, magical powers may not seem as impressive as they do in a normal world. Either way, this fun fan art brings together two beloved franchises in an interesting way.
