Following months of rumors, leaks, and speculation, The Pokemon Company finally announced the long-awaitedPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlgamesfor theNintendo Switch. ThePokemon Diamond and PearlSwitch remakes lend credibility to the people that leaked their existence ahead of time, with one recent leak in particular given quite a bit of credibility thanks to that announcement along with another recent Nintendo reveal.
Twitter user PH Brazil, who has accurately leaked Nintendo news in the past, ended 2020 with a tweet showing images of five Nintendo franchises, hinting that they would be represented in 2021. So far, two of the five have been confirmed, withSplatoon 3announced at the recent Nintendo Directfor a 2022 release, and thePokemon DiamondandPearlremakes coming in late 2021. The other three games have yet to be shown, butThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2news is confirmed to be coming later this year.

If one counts the confirmation themoreBreath of the Wild 2news is coming in 2021, then technically PH Brazil’s prediction is three for five, which lends serious credibility to the rest of the leak. The only two franchises from the PH Brazil that have yet to be represented at all in 2021 isMetroidandFire Emblem, but there’s still 10 months left of 2021 where games in the franchise could be shown.
As far asMetroidgoes, there are numerous possibilities. Perhaps the rumoredMetroid: Samus ReturnsSwitch port will be announced at some point this year. Alternatively, maybe the previously leakedMetroid Prime TrilogySwitch portwill be revealed instead. And while it’s a long shot, it’s also possible that Retro Studios will showMetroid Prime 4, though that game is still believed to be relatively early in development since work on it was rebooted.
Fire Emblemcould be just about anything. It seems a little early for a full-fledged, brand newFire Emblemgame, but maybe Nintendo is going to bring a classicFire Emblemto the Switch. There were numerousFire Emblemgames on the 3DS that would be good fits for the Switch, or maybe Nintendo could beremastering olderFire Emblemgamesfor its handheld/home console hybrid.
Whatever the case may be, with aNintendo Direct just recently taking place, fans should expect any news about Nintendo franchises for some time to come. The best bet is that the next big Nintendo presentation will be sometime in June around E3 season, so Switch owners should keep their expectations in check until then.
