On social media, industry insider Jeff Grubb has teased when the upcomingPlayStationshowcase event will be held, as the summer announcement season starts heating up. Grubb posted an image of when this upcomingPlayStationevent would be held and compared it to other events and announcement showcases that have been confirmed for the year. In the replies, other users chimed in with their guesses as to when Sony will play its hand.While other developers and companies have confirmed when they will have their headline events of the upcoming season, Sony has kept quiet for the most part. Its most recent broadcast was theState of Play dedicated toFinal Fantasy 16just a few weeks ago. With the next title in Square Enix’s long-running series coming next month, Sony’s big-budget slate for the rest of the year remains up in the air. The window would also fall just over two weeks beforethe 2023 Xbox Games Showcaseset for June 11. However, Grubb did not state which exact date or time the PlayStation Showcase would be, nor did he indicate what may be shown during the broadcast. As for the window that the PlayStation Showcase may happen, given that Sony tends to host events on Wednesdays and Thursdays, the dates of May 24 and 25 would fall within the window.

In the replies to Grubb’s tweet, gamers speculated that either the week of May 25 or June 1 would be the most likely dates for Sony to take advantage of. As forwhat could be shown at the PlayStation Showcase, anotherFinal Fantasy 16trailer seems to be a safe bet, and details on the rumored PS5 Slim console could be shared during the broadcast, as well. It remains to be seen what Sony has in store.

Though details remain scarce, fanswaiting for word onSpider-Man 2may also want to tune into the PlayStation Showcase, as the timing of the broadcast is ripe for Insomniac to take advantage of. Between what has been announced already, and with more rumored projects in the works, the eyes of the industry will be on Sony this summer.
