Overwatchfans have truly mastered the heroes over the years, discovering everything from the most effective combos with Doomfist to the perfect distance to push someone with a Reinhardt pin. Now, anOverwatchplayer has shown off a D.Va trick that many players may not know, and it could prove useful in certain situations.

Considering that D.Va is one of the mostpopularOverwatchheroeswhen it comes to pick rates, any tricks players can learn when it comes to her kit are going to be worthwhile. As an off-tank, dealing damage is just as important as absorbing it, making a potential boost to that damage output a great thing to know. While it is not game-changing and will rarely result in more kills, the ability to double D.Va’s damage when using her melee attack could help the hero weaken foes a bit faster.

The trick was spotlighted by YouTuber McMagicMarv, and it sees players executing two melee attacks in rapid succession. The key to success isD.Va’s self-destruct ultimate. Right when players are about to trigger the explosion, they can initiate a melee attack. The arm of D.Va’s mech will then hit the foe before it enters the countdown animation, and as D.Va is ejected, she can melee once again to deal some damage with the butt of her gun. This quick move deals 60 damage instead of 30 while still giving D.Va time to get away.

This extra bit of damage may not help too much against a bulkyTank like Reinhardt, but it can make all the difference against someone with less health like Zenyatta. The trick can also become even more effective when D.Va is boosted. It could be worth performing when Ana’s nanoboost is running low, or when Orisa’s supercharger is connected to the mech-wearing Tank. Mercy’s damage boost could also be beneficial, making this quick double melee even more effective.

IfD.Va fansuse the trick sparingly, mainly focusing on finishing off weak enemies or softening up foes for another teammate, it should make a fine addition to a player’s arsenal. Its big downside is that it requires a D.Va mech to be dropped directly in front of foes, so players may prefer using their self-destruct in a less obvious way. However, at high level play where D.Va ultimates are likely to be blocked with ease, this trick could be an excellent way to catch some members of an enemy team off guard.

It will be interesting to see how D.Va is changed from an off-tank to a main tank so that she can fitOverwatch 2’s 5v5 format. In her current form, she is used often, with tricks like this showing just how much time some players have spent testing out her abilities.

Overwatchis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
