Summary
AnOverwatch 2Zarya player recently won a match for their team with an expertly-timed Graviton Surge that pulled the entire team off of the point in overtime. ThisOverwatch 2clip is a powerful reminder that Ultimate abilities don’t need to deal damage directly to turn the tide of a battle.
Zarya is one of the original tank heroes introduced whenOverwatchfirst launched. Characterized by her Particle Cannon, which grows more powerful if her Particle Barriers take damage, as well as her Graviton Surge ultimate that summons a black hole to lock down enemies, Zarya is one of the moreversatile and persistent tanks inOverwatch 2.

Recently, a new Zarya gameplay clip showed that the hero is just as disruptive inOverwatch 2as she was in its predecessor.Overwatch 2player PincheFlakco, who shared the gameplay footage on Reddit, was playing Zarya on the defense team on Blizzard World. As the match went into overtime on the capture point, theAshe on theirOverwatch 2team summoned B.O.B.to put pressure on them. Most of the team pushed in on Ashe and B.O.B. to get them away from the objective, giving PincheFlakco the perfect shot to trap all of them in a Graviton Surge off the point. After quickly dispatching the enemy Kiriko, who evaded the ultimate, their team claimed victory in theOverwatch 2match.
Clutch Graviton Surge Zarya Play in Overwatch 2
If this clip was not amazing enough on its own, the victory screen then proceeded to glitch out, showing PincheFlakco and theirOverwatch 2team A-posing, rather than using their respective victory poses. Unfortunately, PincheFlakco didn’t manage to get the Play of the Game with this use of Graviton Surge, despite it winning the game for their team.
Needless to say, with over 1,000 upvotes and nearly 100 comments within the first day of posting the clip, PincheFlakco’s fellowOverwatch 2players got a kick out of their incredible ultimate. Many applauded them for saving Graviton Surge for the perfect moment, or laughed atOverwatch 2’s angelic Mercy dual-wieldingCaduceus Staves on the glitched-out victory screen. Others criticized the enemy team, as the majority of them pushed off the point at the end of the map, giving Zarya the chance to lock them down and win the match.
AnewOverwatch 2quality-of-life improvementmakes it so that wounded enemies now always display their health bars. While this change is hugely popular among fans, it does make chasing down low-health heroes a huge temptation rather than staying on the point – much like the enemy team did in this clip. It will be up to players to remember to keep an eye on their objective, lest they fall prey to a well-timed Zarya ultimate in their own games.
