Overwatch 2has had a bit of a rough launch, plagued with connection issues, server instability, bugs, and glitches, but not all of these have been frustrating – some have been humorous and fun, even if they involve inexplicably inducing hair loss to thecharacters ofOverwatch. While moment-to-moment gameplay in the sequel is as fun as ever, it’s hard to deny thatOverwatch 2is lacking the polish it needed at release to truly be an enjoyable experience.
Though theservers ofOverwatch 2are under a DDoS attack, the persistent players who have managed to enter the game have enjoyed the new 5v5 mode, with many citing it as an upgrade over the old 6v6 format. It allowed Blizzard to introduce substantial changes toOverwatch’s tank role, establishing and clarifying its now-solo spot on the party roster. One of these tank heroes is the new Junker Queen, and though this Australian berserker is fun to play, she’s not without her share of graphical bugs and glitches.

Perhaps the most amusing example of this is a bug that fails to load the Junker Queen’s hair, leaving her entirely bald. Posted by AntiMatterLife onOverwatch’s Reddit community, the piercings on Odessa Stone’s head make her look downright demonic without the mohawk to match. If someone ever wanted to see what a punk version of Lex Luthor looked like,Overwatch 2may just have accidentally fulfilled that curiosity.
In a follow-up by AntiMatterLife, it would seem that this issue isn’t relegated to just theJunker Queen inOverwatch 2, but it extends to every single hero on the game’s current roster. A common hypothesis on why the glitch is occurring points fingers atOverwatch 2’s graphical settings at low causing most of these issues.
The Junker Queen joins Sojourn and Kiriko as thenew heroes added inOverwatch 2, but many from the original cast ofOverwatchhave also undergone changes in the sequel – some to such an extent that they’ve changed roles. Perhaps the most notable example of this is Doomfist becoming a Tank hero in the sequel.
It may take Blizzard some time to iron out the bugs currently present at launch, and for many reasonably upset fans,Overwatch 2feels very much like a game still stuck in beta. One can’t help but wonder if the sting that theOverwatchcommunity feels right now would be lessened if they still had the option to return to the original game until the situation improved.
Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
