People Can Fly’sOutridersis set to be one of the studio’s most ambitious projects to date, having been in development for over five years at the time of this writing. The highly-anticipatedOutriderswas set to launch on February 2, but now it’s been announced that fans will have to wait a little bit longer to play the final product. People Can Fly has confirmed that theOutridersrelease date has been delayed by two months.
The newOutridersrelease dateis June 05, 2025. People Can Fly explained that it will be using the extra development time to better-polish the game, with the goal of “delivering a fantastic play experience” when it comes on April 1. People Can Fly has confirmed thatOutridersis getting a substantial free demo on February 25. The demo will allow players to access all of theOutridersclassesas well as play the game in both single-player and co-op. The exact scope of the content theOutridersdemo will entail has not been specified, but People Can Fly said that it will give players access to the “first few hours of the game.” Better yet, the progress players make in theOutridersdemo will carry over to the full game once it launches on April 1.
Usually when a game like this is playable before launch, it’s in the form of a beta that doesn’t keep players' progress when the final game comes out. Since players won’t be wasting their time by playing theOutridersdemo, it may make it a much more appealing prospect. TheOutridersdemo also demonstrates clear confidence in the product on the part ofPeople Can Fly, as it is effectively giving players a free taste of the game hoping that they will come back for more once the full version is available.
If People Can Fly felt as though theOutridersdemo would turn people away, one would think it wouldn’t bother with it and instead take its chances on launch day. However, the studio stressed that it believes it is important for players to experience anew IPprior to launch so that they can determine whether the game is something they want to pre-order or purchase. It’s a very consumer-friendly move and will undoubtedly win the developers some brownie points with fans.
Outridersgameplay previewshave been mostly positive so far, and People Can Fly is clearly confident in the game. Fans can try it for themselves when the freeOutridersdemo goes live on February 25.
Outriderslaunches April 1 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with a Stadia version also in development.
