Team Ninja, the developer for the recent action-RPGNioh 2, has recently teased that there might be announcements coming soon for new titles expected for the new year. This comes alongside a reminder that theNioh Collectionis coming to PS5and PC later this year as well, meaning that the developer is managing quite a few high-priority releases in 2021.

The new info comes from a recent interview conducted by Japanese gaming news outlet 4gamer with a number of different game developers and producers, includingNioh 2producer Fumihiko Yasuda. Other developers and producers involved with Team Ninja and publisher Koei Tecmo were also interviewed, with many of their comments lending equal credence to Yasuda’s claims.

According to Yasuda, Team Ninja is preparing several new titles in 2021, though the specific wording doesn’t necessarily suggest that all of these will be releasing this year. Additionally, Yasuda instructs readers to look forward to the upcoming announcements, which may be coming from new IP, but could still be related to previous titles, such as theNioh Collectionor theDead or Aliveseries. The exact nature of these new titles is still up for speculation at the time of this writing, so players may wish to temper their expectations for announcements regarding any specific property Team Ninja is known for.

Specifically taking that this is Fumihiko Yasuda making these remarks, the producer’s history with Team Ninja may suggest that anewNinja Gaidentitlecould be in the early stages of development. Yasuda has previously held the role of creative director for bothNinja Gaiden 3andYaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, before taking on the title of producer forNioh 2. This is purely speculation, as the only indications of aNinja Gaiden 4or other continuation of the series to have come forward yet are rumors and have not been confirmed by Team Ninja, nor Koei Tecmo.

While the true identity of these new games is still under wraps, it is an exciting prospect to know that the creative team atTeam Ninja is moving passedNioh 2to continue bringing these action titles at a similar quality. Fans of any series in Team Ninja’s catalogue should be excited to see what the developer has in store for 2021, with these announcements bringing a brand new string of games. Hopefully the developer will be able to push Next-Gen consoles in the same way that it did with theNiohseries on previous consoles.
