New video game news is usually something to look forward to, at least when it’s not about delays or abuse. One company that mostly seems to hold the good news torch high is Nintendo, and its Nintendo Directs often leave people informed and excited. However, Nintendo has been silent on the Directs for a while now, leaving people questioningwhen the next Direct will be.
TheNintendoDirect is a video sharing information about the biggest projects the company is working on. This often includes upcoming games for its latest consoles, or new details about existing games. Remakes for newer consoles are often commonly announced in a Direct. As of late, the formula has been changed and experimented with in the form of Mini Directs and Nintendo Treehouse.

It seems the silence about the Nintendo Direct has been broken. Recently, arumor made the rounds that a new Nintendo Direct would drop soon. Turns out that rumor was right on the news, and the new Direct is dropping much sooner than anticipated. In a tweet released very recently as of this article, Nintendo announced via Tweet that the next Direct takes place on 7/20. It will air at 7AM Pacific Time.
As mentioned above, while anew Nintendo Direct was rumored for July, no one anticipated such an early morning release. With the timeslot given, it’s likely many players will see the news after the livestream of the Direct.
The Direct Mini will focus on titles from third-party developers and publishers, putting the spotlight on non-Nintendo made games. No specific partners or companies were mentioned, just that it’s a small group of titles. Furthermore, all titles are previously-announced, so no new game reveals.
From the information above, it may be easy to infer what titles will show up. Any third party developed, big-name titles that have been announced, but have had few details shown off, are most eligible. Many gamers have their hopes set onBayonetta 3but they are also ready to be disappointed.
The format of the Direct may be different from previous installments as well.Nintendo has mentioned it wants to change up the Direct format, though how exactly it wants to do this has not been shared.
The Direct will, presumably, stick to officially announced games. This means thatleaked titles like theNeed For Speed: Hot Pursuitportare probably off the table. Anyone wanting to catch the direct live will have to be up bright and early. Of course, it will presumably be available after the livestream in full, so there’s no need to stress.
