With just a few more weeks until the spookiest day of the year, video game fans are already enjoying the Halloween events found within their favorite video games. Some titles and publishers that are riding on the festivities includeOverwatch,Warframe, and even Capcom, with its announcement of aResident EvilHalloween event. On the mobile space, Niantic’sPokemon GO’s Halloween activities are already in full swing, and to celebrate the occasion, the developer recently released a TikTok video that highlighted the Ghost-type Pokemon Gengar.
From October 15 until the end of the month, players can enjoy thePokemon GOHalloween Mischief event. Divided into two parts, the festivities focus on Psychic-, Ghost-, and Dark-type Pokemon, making them appear more frequently in the wild for players to catch. Players will also finally be able to evolve Slowbro into the Galarian Slowking, while Pokemon such as Phantump, Trevenant, Pumpkaboo, and Gourgeist will be making their debut onPokemon GO.

To highlight the Halloween Mischief occasion,Pokemon GO’s official TikTok channel recently uploaded a short video that encouraged players to look for a missing Gengar within the footage. In the video, players can see several other Pokemon such as Gastly, Spinarak, and even one of the newly debuted Ghost-type Phantump. However, fans will notice that Gengar is not included in the photo. The caption tells the avidPokemon GOcommunity to look closely, and then suddenly Gengar jumps out of nowhere onto the screen. The loud screeching noise that accompanies the appearance of one of themost popular Ghost Pokemonhas likely already surprised many of the fans on the platform.
On Reddit, user BroBroBrayBray recorded the TikTok video and posted it on the forum to open the discussion with fellowPokemon GOfans. Many admitted that the video still gave them a jump scare, even though they were already expecting it to happen. Other fans stated that they always look forward to the Halloween events onPokemon GO. One commenter also mentioned that they seemed keen to see a crossover of Gengar into theNintendo titleLuigi’s Mansion. Given the creepy yet child-friendly looks of some Ghost Pokemon, it seems they could be perfect cameo encounters in Luigi’s spooky adventures.
With the Halloween Mischief event just beginning inPokemon GO, fans are hopeful that Niantic will produce more unique and interesting videos like these for their viewing pleasure. It will definitely excite players to log onto the mobile game, and experience the fun events for themselves.
