Amazon’s MMONew Worldhas been doing quite well for itself since launch, but players have noticed a number of design flaws and gameplay bugs. While some of these issues are easy to overlook, others have proven to be recurring problems, either by impacting the way gamers play the game or by impacting players directly. One such issue thatNew Worldplayers have begun to notice is a flaw in the game’s blocking system.
Redditor RyDRoe brought up the issue recently in a post dedicated to the problem. As the user pointed out, blocking or muting another player onNew Worldwill let gamers know when the blocked player is online. This isn’t the onlyNew Worldissue fanshave drawn attention to recently, but it is one of the strangest.

RyDRoe openly questioned in their post why Amazon would think that players want to keep an eye on the login status of people they’ve blocked as though the offending individuals were part of their friends list. Although RyDRoe opened their post by asking if anyone else had encountered the problem, it soon became clear that this was an issue affecting many players. Another user even noted that this isn’t the only issue with the block function–players are also forced to report other accounts and then block them becauseNew Worlddoesn’t allow playersto block and then report.
Some users have expressed frustration with being forced to see a list of blocked or muted players, but others theorized that this was meant to allow players to unblock the individuals in question if they wish to. One user proposed that this might work better if the blocked and muted players were displayed in a nested list that could be left shrunken unless necessary. Another user observed that this is just one of manyUI issues found inNew World.
As of writing, it appears that the general consensus among fans is thatNew World’s current set-up for blocking and muting other players needs some tweaks, as doNew World’s PvE Invasions. Users were especially annoyed about how the blocklist allowed them to see that spambots they’d reported were still active days after being reported, while other players were unable to play for days because of automatic bans. However, one user in particular expressed satisfaction with the list and stated they treated it as a list of players to kill on sight when encountered.
