Aside from updates surrounding The Pokemon Card game, the officialPokemonYouTube channel has released plenty of fun additional content for fans to enjoy. From thePokemon Evolutions Seriesto its Twilight Wings series that was released a while back, Pokemon has taken leaps to expand on narratives not fully explored in the anime.

Recently, the channel posted a short film surrounding the gen 4 PokemonBidooftitled “Bidoof’s Big Stand.” In it, Bidoof is fleeing from a wild Staraptor when it stumbles across a lone Pokemon trainer. The trainer fights off the wild Staraptor with their Lucario, which impresses Bidoof and convinces it to join their party.

Wanting to impress their new trainer and prove their usefulness, Bidoof removes all environmental obstacles for them. However, this doesn’t get the type of response Bidoof wants from its trainer. That changes at the end of the short when Bidoof is the lastPokemonstanding in a tournament against a rival trainer, where it finally gets the opportunity to prove its worth.

The short film does an excellent job acknowledgingBidoof’s HM Slave rolein most trainer’s parties in the early days back whenPokemon DiamondandPearlwas released. A role that had many fans sympathize for the Pokemon and show an outpouring of love and support for Bidoof. In addition, many fans commented about how they were impressed with the visual style of the short and how much emotion Bidoof was able to convey without having to say a word.

As great of a meme Bidoof worship is, it is very touching that an underdog Pokemon like Bidoof is able to get this much love and support from fans. So many people even commented on the video that aside from the jokes, the short film is genuinely funny and wholesome and does a great job bringing thePokemonuniverse to life. Other users even compare Bidoof’s Big Stand to the small shorts that always play right before Disney movies.

This isn’t the first time The Pokemon Company put Bidoof in the spotlight. Last year, the company declared thatBidoof day is July 1stto celebrate Bidoof and released a special announcement video on YouTube. In it, the company did a cover of Rick Astley’s famous “Never Gonna Give You Up” but rewrote the lyrics to center it around showing love for Bidoof. The company also released many themedPokemonposts on social media and created events for Bidoof inPokemon GO.
