Just one day away from its first two episodes debuting on Disney Plus, Marvel Studios’Hawkeyeis revealing more and more footage, this time teasing the series' main antagonists in a brand new clip.
Hawkeyewill focus on Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton / Hawkeye post-blip in New York City during the Holidays, as he is forced to team up withthe young archer Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld)to stop enemies from his past when he was Ronin inAvengers: Endgame. The clip features the Tracksuit Mafia, the all new enemies tasked to hunt down Clint Barton / Hawkeye and Kate Bishop. The gang tracks down the duo’s hideout and attempts to burn it down, but Clint and Kate are quick to retaliate. The street-level atmosphere ofHawkeyeis already receiving much praise, as many critics feel that the show’s lighter, more grounded story is the perfect addition to the MCU, considering the more cosmic, multiversal direction phase four has been heading in. The two leads feel the same way as well.
In a recent interview, Renner and Steinfeld bothshared their enjoyment filmingHawkeye’s banter scenes, adding that the story’s grounded approach along with the blend of humor and drama is what drew them most to the project. Judging by the numerous clips that have already been released, it’s very certain that the chemistry between the two leads will contribute to much of the series' success.
Created byMad MenandBridgerton’s Jonathan Igla,Hawkeyewill also star Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, Kate’s mother, Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne, Barton’s old mentor, Fra Free as the mercenary Kazi,Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez/Echo, a deaf character who can perfectly copy others' movements (a spin-off series about her character is already in development), and Zahn McClarnon as William Lopez, Maya’s father. Amber Templemore-Finlayson & Katie Ellwood (Bert & Bertie) and Rhys Thomas will also serve as directors.
Hawkeyewill also include other MCU newcomers like Florence Pugh’s Yelena fromBlack Widow, as she was instructed by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine to hunt down Clint, who she thinks is responsible for her sister’s death in that film’s post-credits scene. How much Yelena will be featured inHawkeyeis still unclear, but fans can expect a thrilling finale that will surely tie into many other upcoming MCU projects.
Hawkeye’sfirst two episodes are set to premiere on Disney Plus on June 07, 2025.
