Fans who pre-ordered the Xbox Series X/S are preparing for a big day tomorrow when they are able to unbox the new console and begin the next generation of gaming. However, players may have to be cautious about their storage, as many of the new titles require a hefty amount of required space.
2K Sports announced a next-gen upgrade forNBA 2K21, which would expand gameplay and features for next-gen consoles. Now, with the release date about a day away, fans are finding out thatNBA 2K21will take up a massive amount of space. At launchNBA 2K21on Xbox Series X/S will require 121.7 GB of useable storage space to download.

The Xbox Series X has 802 GB of useable storage at launch, so players may be able to balance the roster of games, however, if fans also have theXbox Game Pass subscription, the amount of games available for the library grows substantially. Xbox Series S users may have a little bit more difficulty managing space. Because the Xbox Series S only has 364 GB of useable space,NBA 2K21would take up nearly a third of all useable storage, meaning players will need to limit the number of large file games in their library.
The Xbox Series X/S do have ways to counter the massive storage requirements of some games. Both consoles will have features like smart storage management, which allows users to delete and add individual aspects of games like DLC or story modes. The Xbox Series X/S also supportsSeagate storage expansion cards, which will give the console some added storage space.
It is no surprise thatNBA 2K21will take up a ton of storage space. 2K Sports has shared details on the many upgrades thatNBA 2K21will have for next-gen including WNBA MyPlayers, gameplay and graphics upgrades, and alarger neighborhood called “The City.“The gameplay will be tweaked substantially to support more in-depth controls and utilize the capabilities of next-gen controllers.
NBA 2K21is not the only title that will take up a massive amount of storage space.Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold Warwill take up 136 GB on Xbox Series X/S on launch, but with storage management features, players have the option to download specific game modes like campaign, multiplayer, or Zombies.
NBA 2K21is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One. It will release on Xbox Series X/S on November 10th and PlayStation 5 on November 12th.
