With so many Battle Royale games on the market today such asFortnite,Apex Legends, andCall of Duty: Warzone, it’s important to stand out from the crowd.Naraka: Bladepointis attempting to do just that through a focus on melee combat. While the game iscoming to PC on August 12, the Battle Royale is also getting a console release in the future.

As the developers prep for the PC release ofNaraka: Bladepoint, they are working on console versions of the game as well. Despite not having an exact timeline for their respective launches, these versions of the game are expected to release “soon.” Furthermore, the full list of consoles the Battle Royale is planned to release on was not disclosed either. However, it appears to be coming to the PS5 as the game was shown running on Sony’s next-generation machine.

The gameplay on PS5 gave players a look at PvE combat. During the video, the main character is seen using a bow to dispatch a group of monsters along with using the grappling hook to traverse uneven terrain. The footage culminates in a boss fight that shows off melee combat and some type of elemental attack.  This seems like a promising sign for fans of the project that don’t own a PC.

Naraka: Bladepointis the newest game from the Chinese developer 24 Entertainment. The major goal of the development team with this new title is to transform the Battle Royale formula. Even though players have the ability to use longer-range weapons like a bow, most of the combat focuses on melee weapons. With this close-quarters dynamic paramount to the experience, the developers desired to give players enhanced movement through the addition of a grappling hook and parkour abilities. Beyond the 60 player Battle Royale experience,Naraka: Bladepointincludes other modessuch as a duel system, 3-versus-3 combat, and a PvE mode.

With a map featuring an Eastern art style full of detail, the game encourages players to explore the exotic locale of Morus Island. As players traverse the map, they will discover a number of unique environments that include the skeletal remains of huge monsters, deserted townships, and mysterious temples. Featuring a character creation tool that gives players a chance to personalize their fighter,Naraka: Bladepointoffers a lot of customizationcompared to other Battle Royale games on the market.

Players have already had a chance to try out the game for themselves during an open beta in April. Thebeta proved successful with over 120,000 concurrent playersand even managed to break into Steam’s top 10 played games. It will be interesting to see if it can maintain this popularity when it comes to consoles in the upcoming months.
