The first wave of DLC for theMarvel’s Midnight SunsSeason Pass has released and features the fan-favorite Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool, along with three new story missions that comprise The Good, the Bad, and the Undead DLC campaign. Throughout these missions, players team up with Deadpool to face off against the new threat of Vampyres led by the DLC’s main villain, Sin. Although Sin herself is a dangerous enemy withinMarvel’s Midnight Suns, her master might pose an even greater threat to the team of heroes and shape the future of the Season Pass’s plot.
Sin, also known as Sinthea Shimdt, is a recurring villain in Marvel Comics. As the daughter of Hyrda supervillian Red Skull, she faces off with her father’s nemesis,Captain America, on several occasions. InMarvel’s Midnight Suns, she appears as the granddaughter of Red Skull and seeks revenge on the heroes who destroyed her grandfather and their family castle in Transia. To this end, she swears loyalty to a new master, using the power of Vampyres to create an undead army worthy of taking on the Midnight Suns.

Sin’s Master is Revealed in the DLC’s Epilogue
The final mission ofThe Good, the Bad, and the Undead DLChas Deadpool and the team racing to stop Sin from obtaining the Magna Corrigo, an ancient artifact that Blade describes as the Holy Grail for vampires, as it can cure them of all their weaknesses. After defeating Sin and her army of undead at her Transian castle, she retreats to inform her master of the loss of the Magna Corrigo. It’s in this scene that the true mastermind of this DLC story is revealed as none other than the Lord of Vampires himself, Dracula. He assures Sin that the Magna Corrigo was not necessary for his ascension, sowing the seed for the villain to appear in future DLCs.
In the Marvel universe, Dracula is a powerful recurring foe and the archnemesis of theMarvel vampire hunter, Blade. Based on the Bram Stoker character of the same name, he made his first Marvel Comics appearanceThe Tomb of Dracula #1in 1972 by Gerry Conway, Gene Colan, and Marv Wolfman. Dracula would first face off against Blade in 1973’sThe Tomb of Dracula #10,but would eventually be destroyed by Dr. Strange using the Darkhold’s vampire-killing spell known as the Montesi Formula.
The vampire lord was revived in the 1990s with limited runs of theNightstalkersandBladecomic series. Dracula would continue to wreak havoc on the Marvel universe, notably taking on the X-Men villain Apocalypse in the 2006 mini-seriesX-Men: Apocalypse vs. Dracula. He even teams up with Dr. Doom to take over the British Isles at one point during theCaptain Britain and MI13storyline Vampire State, a plot which could serve as inspiration forfuture DLC forMarvel’s Midnight Suns.
With the Season Pass ofMarvel’s Midnight Sunscontaining a bonus DLC missionto tie the season together, it’s very possible that players could see Dracula and Dr. Doom teaming up as a frightening supervillain combo to take on the Midnight Suns. Dr. Doom is teased in the final scene of the base game where he picks up the Darkhold after Chthon’s defeat.Midnight Sunsreferences him again in this first DLC episode as the Latverian physician who contracted Deadpool to retrieve the Magna Corrigo. With the pieces starting to fall into place, it appears this first wave of DLC is only the beginning for the rise of Dracula and Dr. Doom inMarvel’s Midnight Suns.
