Mario Golf: Super Rushreceived a major new update recently that added New Donk City as a course, Toadette as a playable character, and Ranked for online play. While mostMario Golf: Super Rushfans seem pleased with the new content that came with the free update, others have expressed their discontent at a seemingly random change that Nintendo made to one of the characters in the game.
While theMario Golf: Super Rushupdate added plenty of quality new content to Mario sports title, it also changed one of Princess Daisy’s voice lines. Prior to the update, wheneverPrincess Daisywould get a bogey, she would say, “Whatever!” Now whenever she gets a bogey, she simply boos. While this seems like a small change, many fans online aren’t happy about it, accusing Nintendo of robbing Daisy of her personality and making her more generic by swapping out the voice lines.

Nintendo has not provided any explanation as to why it changed Princess Daisy with theMario Golf: Super Rushupdate, and it’s unlikely to elaborate on the matter. It’s also unlikely that it will release an update that adds the “Whatever!” voice line back, even though fans aren’t happy about the change.
Mario Golf: Super Rushhas enjoyed quite a bit of success so far, despite the backlash to this particular change. While the game earned somewhat mixed reviews,Mario Golf: Super Rushsaleshave been great, breaking sales records for the franchise. And if Nintendo continues to support the game with free updates, one has to imagine that its sales will remain steady for some time to come.
As previously mentioned, the latestMario Golf: Super Rushupdate was otherwise well-received by the community. It expands theMario Golf: Super Rushmultiplayer capabilities by adding the Ranked mode, and it gives players a new character to play with Toadette. Not to mention the addition of theNew Donk City course, pulled straight from the critically-acclaimed Switch platformerSuper Mario Odyssey.
If Nintendo has more substantialMario Golf: Super Rushupdatesup its sleeve, it will be interesting to see what other characters and courses make the cut. But while there should still be plenty of new content on the way forMario Golf: Super Rushfans to look forward to, they shouldn’t hold their breath about Daisy’s “Whatever!” voice line getting restored in the Mario golf game anytime soon.
