The cast of Prime Video’s holiday action-adventure comedy filmRed Oneis growing, with award-winning actor Lucy Liu coming on board. The star-studded film already has Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, and Kiernan Shipka on its roster, and it seems like the star power is only going to become stronger moving forward.

Red Oneis being promoted as a four-quadrant film, which places it in a unique position of appealing to a rather large audience demographic. TheAmazon Primefilm is being brought to life by Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions, andJumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’s Jake Kasdan will be reuniting with the actor to take the helm as director. With the plot still under wraps, it is unclear what role Liu will be playing in the film, but it is still exciting news for her fans nonetheless.

News of Liu joining the cast was first revealed byDeadlineafter the actor boarded the high-profile project.Evans was the first to join Johnson inRed One’s roster, followed by Shipka just last month. The film is being billed as a “globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.” The story was penned by Hiram Garcia, the president of production at Seven Bucks Productions, and he wanted to take a slightly different route instead of creating a traditional holiday film. It is said to be similar to an action blockbuster, with some holiday spirit and comedy.

Apart from the fact that it is a holiday film, and that it is scheduled to release during the 2023 holiday season, not much has been revealed about the plot ofRed Oneor who the various characters are. What relationship will Liu’s character have with those played by Johnson, Evans, or Shipka remains a mystery. BeforeRed Onehits theaters, though,Liu will be seen inShazam! Fury of the Godsas Kalypso, a demi-god and one of the daughters of the ancient Greek deity Atlas.

Kasdan and Johnson have previously worked together on 2017’sJumanji: Welcome to the Jungleand 2019’sJumanji: The Next Level. It’s obvious that the actor-director duo has a good rapport already, and Kasdan seems to have a knack for comedies. While theJumanjifilms were a massive success, Kasdan has worked on other comedy films in the past, such asWalk Hard: The Dewey Cox StoryandBad Teacher. It remains to be seen how differentRed Onewill be compared to his previous hits.

Red Oneis currently in production and scheduled to premiere in theaters in 2023.
