Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealthbrings back a lot of features and assets from previous games in the series, as is Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s way. It finally unites the franchise’s new face Ichiban andYakuzalegend Kiryu together in one story, and serves as a capstone to theYakuzaseries' most famous protagonist.

The game isfull of references to older gamesand the Dragon of Dojima’s life, and adapts many of Kiryu’s most iconic moves to its turn-based format – including Heat Actions. Because the game isn’t a brawler, Heat Actions inInfinite Wealthwork a little differently than in previous games, but should feel familiar for long-time fans of the series.

What Are Kiryu’s Heat Actions?

Heat Actions are a returning feature from previousYakuzagames that have been changed slightly forLike a Dragon: Infinite Wealth’s turn-based combat. In previous games, Kazuma Kiryu was the main character, and instead of being a turn-based RPG, the series was known for being an action brawler.

In these games, Kiryu could perform special Heat Actions in combat by fulfilling certain requirements and pressing an associated attack input. For example, inYakuza 0, Kiryu could slam his enemies into the door of a vehicle, but only if his Heat Bar was at 2 or 3, and if there was a Black car nearby. Similarly, he could force enemies to drink with the same level of Heat, but only if he had a Mystery Bottle equipped.

InLike a Dragon: Infinite WealthHeat Actions return with a twist. Just like before, these actions are exclusive to Kiryu, and can only be performed when certain requirements are fulfilled. InInfinite Wealth, this includes being near certain Weapon objects in the environment, or being near specific types of environmental features – like being on a bridge.

How To Trigger Heat Actions In Infinite Wealth

The two most basic things Kiryu must do to perform a Heat Action inInfinite Wealthare to be inBrawler stanceand tobe in close proximityto the target. Though there are additional requirements for some Heat Actions, these are the two baseline requirements for all of them.

Though there are quite a lot of Heat Actions in the game, themajority of Kiryu’s Heat Actions cannot be performed until you max out his Soul stat. The Soul stat determines Kiryu’seffectiveness in the Brawler stance(blue, up on the D-pad), and thus determines his ability to perform Heat Actions. There are some exceptions to this, like Ultimate Essence, which Kiryu can perform as long as he is low on HP.

A large number of Heat Actions can only be performed if the main target is Stunned, so be sure to have at least oneparty member capable of inflicting Stunwho can go before Kiryu in combat.

In total, there are fourteen different Heat Actions that Kiryu can perform inInfinite Wealth, though there are likely some that players haven’t discovered yet thanks to hyper-specific requirements (like rumored Heat Actions only available at the Homeless Camp in Isezaki Ijincho).
